The Great Titan Thanos Rumored For Big MCU Return

The Great Titan Thanos is rumored to return to the MCU.

Back in February, Josh Brolin teased he might be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an interview with CB.com.

“You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine that they’re gonna bring him back,” Brolin told the site.

The last we saw of of Thanos – at least the live-action version – was in The Avengers: Endgame when he was killed by Thor at the start of the movie and then dusted at the end of the film by Tony Stark.

What does the rumor say?

There has been references to Thanos in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well as What If? which confirms Thanos Variants exist in the Multiverse.

Following up on what Brolin said back in February, a few days ago saw a fan remark on Twitter that Thanos is the most badass villain.

The MyTimeToShineHello Twitter account caught wind of the tweet and tweeted, “Thanos will return.”

How will Thanos return to the MCU?

We can only guess how Thanos will make his triumphant return to the MCU, which per above, is likely via the Multiverse.

With Avengers: Secret Wars around the corner, Thanos could always return in that movie or a movie tied into Secret Wars.

Wouldn’t it be wild if it’s revealed that everything after Avengers: Endgame is actually a part of a different universe? That would explain a lot.

They need to do it right

If they do bring Thanos back they also have to make sure it’s done right, as they have to make sure they don’t take anything away from the stellar performance from Infinity War and Endgame.

They sure as heck better not bring back Thanos the way they did in the What If…? animated series, where a comment on a Season 2 clip sums it up best: “It’s not even impressive seeing Thanos get beat at this point. He’s just another chump in every other universe.”

Thanos definitely isn’t a chump in any universe and shouldn’t be treated as such.

Here’s an idea: Instead of a villain, what about Thanos as part of a team of Multiverse heroes?

Avengers: Secret Wars gets released on May 7, 2027.
