Terminator Six Ignoring Genisys Says Arnold Schwarzenegger

A sixth Terminator movie is in the works which will see Arnold Schwarzenegger return as well as  Linda Hamilton and James Cameron, with Deadpool‘s Tim Miller on board as director.

The new Terminator has been said to be a sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and now it’s learned it will ignore the previous movie, Terminator: Genisys, which performed rather poorly at the box office.

Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared at a recent event in the UK where The Terminator Fans asked the Austrian Oak about the new movie.

In addition to the new Terminator movie ignoring Terminator: Genisys, details from Arnold Schwarzenegger include that the new film won’t be titled Terminator 6, but will have a different name; that T2’s Robert Patrick will not be returning, and that Linda Hamilton is currently in training for her return as Sarah Connor.

As noted, with Terminator 6 seeming like a sequel to T2, it’s also probable the other Terminator movies may be ignored.

Plot details for the new Terminator include it looks to be more of an origin story centering on why Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character’s body was used as a model for the Terminators.

If all goes well with this new Terminator, it will lead to a new trilogy, and a writers room has also been set up for more Terminator movies, which includes Batman Dark Knight, Batman vs. Superman and Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer, Charles Eglee (Dark Angel), Josh Friedman (Terminator TV spinoff series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles), and Justin Rhodes, a frequent Goyer collaborator.

James Cameron gets the Terminator rights back next year and is serving as a producer.
