Info:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed today that LEGO Dimensions, the upcoming entertainment experience that merges physical brick building with interactive console gameplay, will include gameplay from The Simpsons, Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Portal, Jurassic World, Midway Arcade, LEGO Chima and Scooby Doo! These fan favourite worlds, most of which have never before been in a LEGO videogame, will converge with the previously announced DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, LEGO Ninjago and Back to the Future worlds in one thrilling adventure playable with the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack.

For gamers that want to customise their LEGO Dimensions experience, Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs based on these fourteen brands will provide new buildable characters, vehicles and gadgets, as well as compelling game content with mission-based levels and unique in-game abilities. All expansion packs will provide players the opportunity to use everything interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game.

It was also revealed in a new trailer that every LEGO vehicle and gadget can be physically built and then rebuilt twice for a total of three different objects that do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety. Once players earn a building achievement, they will get in-game instructions that show them how to use the same physical LEGO bricks to rebuild vehicles and gadgets into different objects that provide all-new abilities.

For example, the LEGO vehicle bricks that come in the Starter Pack can be used to build the LEGO Batmobile that enables players to activate accelerator switches. The Batmobile can be rebuilt and transformed into the LEGO Batblaster which adds Sonar Smash, a sonar gun that has the ability to break LEGO sonar bricks.  The vehicle can then be rebuilt again as the LEGO Sonic Batray which adds a special attack in the form of a missile barrage.  Players can fuse an upgraded vehicle to the LEGO Toy Tag, enabling them to take it and any new abilities with them to a friend’s game or wherever they’d like to play. Players can do this with every vehicle and every gadget from every pack.

Launching September 27th, 2015, LEGO Dimensions will be available for Xbox One, the all-in one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment systems and Nintendo´s Wii U system.

Flash Movie To Be Different & More Standalone

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20621:]]

We get an update on the DC Flash movie from writer/director Phil Lord who confirms he is working on the film while appearing on The Hippojuice Podcast.

Lord, known for the Jump Street movies and The LEGO movie. is asked about The Flash where he notes there is some pressure due to TV series being so popular (via Slash Film).

We’re trying to break a story. It’s interesting, because there’s a really popular TV show out there, and we’re trying to carve out space for the movie that’s apart from that. I think we’re doing alright.

As the TV series does feature Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Phil Lord is asked if they are using the same character for The Flash movie, with Lord confirming Ezra Miller will be Barry Allen.

I believe [our Flash] is going to be Barry Allen.

Phil Lord continues with mention The Flash movie will be separate from the TV series, and actually offers it will be a stand-alone movie, which may suggest not directly connected to the Justice League movie or Batman Vs. Superman (interestingly enough, Dwayne Johnson said the same about Shazam).

It’s going to be it’s own [thing, apart from the TV show] — we’re more trying to stick with the cinematic universe… it really is its own thing, and kind of a stand-alone movie. We’re just trying to think of the best story. I think you guys will like it, it’s kind of a different take on superhero stuff. I’m consciously optimistic.

Phil Lord is also behind a number of other projects including the Sony animated Spider-Man film, with Lord offering they are trying to do the same with Spidey as they are with The Flash.

We’re sort of juggling superheroes with the color red in them, that’s all we do [laughter]. We’re trying not to confuse their powers or anything, but it does get tricky. But yeah it’s the same thing. Is there a way to do one of these movies in a new way? That’s the exciting thing about it being animated, is it just opens up a lot of different possibilities.

Usually Chris and I like to carve out spaces where people will let us do what we want. So much of our careers are like “oh, no one will bother us while we try to make a 21 Jump Street movie, because it’s such a crazy idea, no one’s going to know what to do with it.” So we’re doing these things kind of like that. They’re part of these huge franchises, but kind of are off a little bit off to the side, and that gives us a lot of creative freedom, and that’s the thing we love. Hopefully we won’t waste that.

The Flash movie hits in 2018; check out Lord’s comments below around the 5:10 mark.
