No Batman or Harley Quinn For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19573:]]

Exectutive producer and showrunner of Arrow, Marc Guggenheim, recently attended the Long Beach Comics Expo in Long Beach, CA.

Guggenheim was part of a panel where he discussed Arrow and working with DC.

Before we dive into Arrow, Guggenheim commented on the 2011 Green Lantern movie noting that he didn’t have control over the film (which explains a lot).

“With ‘Green Lantern,’ we [he and Co-Showrunner Greg Berlanti] really learned the lesson of control. We didn’t have it on ‘Green Lantern.’ It got taken out of our hands at a certain point, and stuff happened. The difference between features and TV is that on TV, as a writer, you’re writing for your life. Every eight business days, there’s a new script due, and as a showrunner, it all goes through your pen. Sometimes what’s getting shot is literally your first draft. At the same time, it’s getting shot.”

Now on to Arrow, as the series has a darker tone many have compared it to Batman; however, it’s learned the Caped Crusader won’t be appearing any time soon.

We have a great relationship with DC. We sort of navigate with DC which characters in the toy box we have access to. Obviously, ‘Gotham’ has Batman covered… At the same time, DC [recognizes [Green] Arrow doesn’t have a fantastic rogues gallery — we’ve got Count Vertigo, and we’ve used him twice. They know that we need access to other characters, but it’s a give and take. The bottom line is, Batman won’t appear on “Arrow” before he appears on “Gotham,” and “they’ve got about twenty more years to go.”

Guggenheim also answered a fan question about seeing more from Harley Quinn, who was more of an Easter Egg in a Suicide Squad episode of Arrow.

Between “Gotham” and Margot Robbie playing her in the upcoming Suicide Squad film, he stated that the closest they could come is the “wink and a nod” from last season.

A superhero team spinoff is in the works, which is presently untitled, but Guggenheim offers it isn’t called “The Brave and the Bold.”

It’s also learned that DC has plans for Ted Kord, the second blue beetle, as Arrow wanted to use the character prior to Brandon Routh’s Atom.

Aked if there’s a list of things that can and can’t be used (besides Batman), Guggenheim explained that twice a year they sit down with DC, and each has a list of characters they’d like to use or be used. Katana was a character DC suggested they use. Ray Palmer was originally supposed to be Ted Kord, but DC said, “No, we have plans for that character. How about Ray Palmer?”

No Batman Vs. Superman Trailer With Focus

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19405:]]

It’s probably safe to say that there is no Batman Vs. Superman trailer attached to Will Smith and Margot Robbie’s Focus.

Focus debuted last night with advanced screenings and no word has surfaced about a Batman Vs. Superman trailer.

The internet would have exploded if the Batman Vs. Superman trailer was shown last night; so it looks like the guessing game continues.

With Zack Snyder releasing a first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman, it was hoped the Batman Vs. Superman trailer would be released with Focus. In addition, Smith and Robbie are starring in Suicide Squad, which follows Batman Vs. Superman.

The first Man of Steel trailer actually didn’t debut until 11 months prior to its own release date; so the Batman Vs. Superman trailer may actually not be revealed until April.

Fast and Furious 7 appears to be the major movie for April, which hits April 3rd.

If we go back a previous month to March, there is Insurgent on March 20th.

Heading on to May sees The Avengers 2, which would be an obvious no-brainer for Warner Bros.

There is also WB’s Mad Max: Fury Road on May 15th starring Tom Hardy, which seems a likely candidate.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Suicide Squad Closer To Dark Knight Than Avengers

Following Batman Vs. Superman, the next DC movie will be Suicide Squad.

Margot Robbie has been cast as fan-favorite character Harley Quinn.

In the video above, Robbie speaks with MTV and lets it be known she was offered the role and didn’t have to audition.

Robbie also lets it be known that Harley Quinn and Deadshot (played by Will Smith) have a lot of scenes together.

Robbie also says she spent time with Jared Leto, who is playing the new Joker.

The actress also stated that Suicide Squad is going to be closer to The Dark Knight than something like the Avengers.

Suicide Squad has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer also starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Viola Davis is playing Amanda Waller.

Margot Robbie Signs Multi-Picture Deal For Harley Quinn

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19346:]]

In a no-brainer (and possible spoiler), Margot Robbie has signed a multi-picture deal to play Harley Quinn.

Robbie will first play Harley Quinn for David Ayer in Suicide Squad, which starts filming this Spring in Toronto.

“You don’t need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away,” Robbie told AZCentral. “But with her, it’s a character I don’t think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did ‘Suicide Squad One,’ ‘Two’ and ‘Three,’ I would be over the moon about it.”

Obviously with Margot Robbie signing a multi-picture deal and hoping for sequels, the character of Harley Quinn survives Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad has an August 5, 2016 release date also starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Viola Davis is playing Amanda Waller.

Margot Robbie stars in Focus with Will Smith out this Friday.

Batman Vs. Superman Trailer Attached To Focus?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19281:]]

Tonight saw Zack Snyder tweet the official first look image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the first trailer for Batman Vs. Superman. Is it possible the trailer will be released next Friday with Focus?

Focus stars Suicide Squad‘s Will Smith and Margot Robbie, plus Focus is put out by WB.

It’s also been speculated the Batman Vs. Superman trailer might be attached to the new Mad Max movie; however, Mad Max: Fury Road doesn’t come out until May 15th.

The Focus release date is just a month and a year away from Batman Vs. Superman, and most studios like to reveal a teaser a year prior.

If the Batman Vs. Superman trailer is attached to Focus, it will be online some time next week.

We’re crossing our fingers.

Focus opens Friday, February 27th.

Will Smith & Margot Robbie Talk Suicide Squad’s Rick Flagg

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19130:]]

Tom Hardy was originally set to play Rick Flagg in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad movie; however, Hardy left the project.

Then it was said Jake Gyllenhaal passed as well, and the current rumors are stating Karl Urban is up for the role.

Now USA Today catches up with Will Smith and Margot Robbie on the set of their latest movie Focus.

“We’ve still got to get it right, Smith said.

“This happens all the time,” Robbie added. “People act like, ‘Oh my god, the movie must be ending!’ It’s just the deal with movies.” [Not to mention] a lot of the characters haven’t been portrayed before so it’s a pretty big undertaking. And it’s a big undertaking for the people who are going to play the characters who have been played, like the Joker (to be played by Jared Leto). It’s big shoes to fill.”

“[David Ayer] turned the screenplay in before Christmas,” Smith continued. “What happens is Hollywood shuts down. But he was still working and he wanted to (start shooting) April 13th. So it takes a couple weeks to gear back up at the top of the year and people have taken (other) movies. He’s moving really quickly.”

Robbie agrees: “It’s almost impossible to get a movie all together when there are two main cast members, let alone an ensemble cast with everyone’s schedules. It’s crazy if it works out.”

“Suicide Squad” has an August 6, 2016 release directed by David Ayer starring Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis is said to be up for Amanda Waller.

Margot Robbie Talks Harley Quinn, Joker & Suicide Squad (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18874:]]

Margot Robbie is set to play Harley Quinn and join the Suicide Squad.

MTV recently caught up with the actress to get her thoughts on playing the part.

“Yeah, I guess it’s intimidating because there’s obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice,” Robbie said, “but it’s a challenge, I’m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don’t disappoint.”

Margo Robbie is also asked if she knows the voice of Harley Quinn (as Tara Strong is strongly associated with voice of the character).

“We haven’t gotten too far into it, we’re still pretty far off…” Robbie continued. “I’m actually shooting a movie before that, so my focus is kind of on that at the moment, we haven’t really gotten into the logistics of everything yet.”

Margot Robbie also comments on Jared Leto getting cast as the new Joker.

“Great, great co-star,” Robbie said. “Big shoes to fill, but he going to do his best.”

Suicide Squad has an August 6, 2016 release directed by David Ayer.
