First Look At Diggle’s Costume For Arrow Season 4

Arrow Comic-Con Sizzle Reel

Yesterday saw the cool Stephen Amell Green Arrow poster released for Season 4 of Arrow, and now we get a first look at Diggle’s costume, which looks to be concept art.

Regarding the look, Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told EW Arrow Season 4 finds Diggle (David Ramsey) actually wearing a super suit, despite never being a fan of them: “We try to be very consistent with our characterization. I don’t think Diggle looks at it as a costume per se. Oliver, in the last season, gave him advice in terms of concealing his identity, and so Diggle approaches it from a very practical standpoint. He followed Oliver’s advice and he’s got a means of concealing his identity, but I think Diggle would probably react to anyone calling it a costume.”

“Arrow” returns Wednesday, October 7th starring Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne and John Barrowman.

More Green Lantern Teased For Arrow Season 4

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21908:]]

Despite reports stating Green Lantern is not allowed for Arrow because of the recently announced Green Lantern Corps movie, Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has just teased the character in a big way.

Marc Guggenheim took to his Ow.ly account to post an image of a Coast City billboard that reads:

In brightest day
In blackest night
Come to Coast City
When money’s tight

Fans of Green Lantern will obviously recognize the reference to the Green Lantern oath.

There have been many references to Coast City and Green Lantern throughout the Arrow and The Flash Universe, with the biggest tease coming with mention of a missing pilot, another obvious nod to Hal Jordan.

Stephen Amell also recently stated it would be cool to have Green Latern as well.

Regarding WB not allowing Green Lantern for Arrow or The Flash, Guggenheim recently stated: “They announced the Green Lantern Corps movie, and I’d be surprised if it didn’t include Hal Jordan. It would be great but I doubt it very much.”

I suppose we can note Guggenheim didn’t specifically state that they couldn’t use Hal Jordan, just that he doubted it, so at least that does leave the possibility open that WB will let Green Lantern appear on Arrow and/or The Flash in some capacity.

Watch: Stephen Amell Vs Stardust At SummerSlam

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21832:]]

Stephen Amell happened to to be the one shining moment in a rather lackluster WWE SummerSlam PPV.

While Amell took to the skies as the Green Arrow during the match, overall, many fans were disappointed with the majority of matches as about 50% voted on the WWE Facebook page that they didn’t like SummerSlam.

Yours truly has been watching wrestling for about 35 years, and while I felt a majority of the SummerSlam matches were done rather well, I found a problems with the Cena vs Rollins match, and like everybody else, the disappointing end to the Taker/Lesnar match (also: isn’t Cesaro allowed to win, or what?).

If you’re paying for the WWE Network – and it’s a PPV – how about some clean finishes?

That said, check out Stephen Amell, star of Arrow, who debuted last night at SummerSlam partnering with Neville to take on Cody “Stardust” Rhodes and the “Cosmic King” Wade Barrett. I was really impressed with Amell’s in-ring action as he pulled off some nice moves and sold them really well.

Amell also offered, in a pre-match interview, that the upcoming season of Arrow will resemble the Green Arrow: Year One graphic novel.

Hopefully, Stephen Amell gets a shot at Wrestlemania.

Stephen Amell Says Batman in Arrow & A Movie Appearance Is Possible

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21812:]]

Prior to Stephen Amell’s debut in the squared circle later tonight for SummerSlam, the actor stopped by Wizard World Chicago.

Amell talked about a range of topics, which happened to include the Dark Knight potentially appearing in the Arrow universe as well as the possibility of Amell appearing in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Regarding Batman appearing on Arrow, Amell admitted it would be “tough,” but did state it’s possible.

“In the same way that [Ezra Miller’s] playing the Flash in the cinematic universe – theoretically, we haven’t seen him yet – I see no reason why we couldn’t have our own Bruce Wayne. That’s my opinion; that might not be DC’s opinion, and they’re the bosses.”

Amell has been a fan-favorite choice to play the Green Arrow in the DCCU as well, and the actor has not been silent about wanting to appear in the movie universe. Amell says it’s not like his contract forbids it, so technically it’s possible.

“Whenever I talk to people, it’s like, ‘this is an evolving process,'” Amell offered. “And there’s absolutely no contractual barriers and/or creative barriers between me and being in a movie, one of the DC movies.”

Speaking of Ezra Miller, Miller recently mentioned that his version of The Flash and the Grant Gustin Flash actually exist in parallel universes, which brings up speculation of some sort of Crisis event, in which the DC multiverses collide. There hasn’t been any hints or mention that may actually happen, but it always exists and would make for a pretty cool two part Justice League movie.

Amell also let it be known he has been filming Constantine scenes all week with Matt Ryan (via CBM).

“Arrow” Season 2 premiers Wednesday, October 7th.

Watch: Stephen Amell Confirms Arrow Costume For SummerSlam

Packing for #SummerSlam

Posted by Stephen Amell on Thursday, August 20, 2015

We have confirmation that Stephen Amell will be suited up as the Arrow for his WWE SummerSlam match that takes place later tonight in Brooklyn, NY.

Stephen Amell released the above video teasing his Arrow costume mentioning “you didn’t think I was coming without it.”

Amell will be teaming with Neville, the “Red Arrow,” to take on Wade Barrett and Cody “Stardust” Rhodes.

The actor has been feuding with Stardust for some time, which recently came to a head on an episode of RAW when Rhodes attacked Amell, causing the Arrow star to retaliate in the ring, and then sign a WWE contract.

Amell actually looked pretty good in the ring as he jumped the ropes, tackled Rhodes and dropped some elbows.

Maybe Amell will also have a finisher up his sleeve?

SummerSlam airs on the WWE Network starting at 7pm ET/4pm PT.

No More DC Spinoffs For The CW: Open To Supergirl Crossover

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21695:]]

With four DC shows on the slate (Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, iZombie), it’s learned The CW is putting a hold on anymore spinoffs or series from DC Comics.

The LA Times reports CW president Mark Pedowitz stated there are no plans for additional series at the Television Critics Association press tour.

“There is no intention, at this point, to spin anything else off,” Pedowitz said.

It’s also learned that The CW passed on Supergirl, which went to CBS, as The CW was intent on increasing their male viewership, which is why they decided to go with The Flash. The CW was actually approached with Supergirl before The Flash, but the article notes The CW didn’t want to “commit to another superhero series because it would detract from its overall mission to broaden out.”

While Supergirl is on another network, it’s created by the same team behind Arrow and The Flash; Pedowitz did note the three series will have cross-promotions, and Pedowitz also noted the possibility for a Supergirl/Arrow/Flash crossover is there.

“We’re open to crossovers,” Pedowitz said. “It’s [EP Greg Berlanti’s] call because he understands his shows.”

Watch: Matt Ryan Confirms Constantine For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21682:]]

Arrow has saved Constantine.

While the series may not be returning, it’s confirmed that Matt Ryan will be reprising as Constantine in an upcoming episode of Arrow.

Matt Ryan took to his Twitter account to post the following video that the rumors are true.

Likewise, Stephen Amell took to Twitter to respond with: “Hey, Matty… Welcome to Arrow!”

When NBC recently cancelled Constantine, Stephen Amell came out supporting the series stating he would even guest star on the show if it ended up getting picked up at another network. While that didn’t happen, at least Constantine will live on for one more episode this season on Arrow.

Update: EP Marc Guggenheim offered the following details (via TVInsider.com):

“We are super-crazy excited about this,” Guggenheim said of the “one-time-only deal,” which is currently scheduled for the fifth episode of Arrow‘s upcoming season. “Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that’s why Constantine is this great organic little development.”

Guggenheim teases Constantine is brought into the series as a result of Sara Lance’s resurrection through use of the Lazarus Pit.

“Unlike Thea, who wasn’t fully dead, the consequences of using the pit on someone as dead as Sara was creates some unforeseen difficulties…and John Constantine is uniquely suited to help our team deal with those,” Guggenheim offered.

Guggenheim also says Matt Ryan will look like his usual hell blazing self, and that an original director is on board Arrow to helm the episode.

“The trench coat, the tie, the shirt…the whole wardrobe is being taken out for storage and shipped up to Vancouver.” Guggenheim said, adding tht John Badham, a director on Constantine, is also on board to direct the episode. “He is familiar with Constantine and Matt Ryan, so it’s a wonderful combination.”

Stephen Amell Teases WWE Appearance Vs. Stardust (Video)

Update: Stephen Amell has asked his fans if he should wrestle Stardust:

Facebook! Something you should know about me is that I’m a lifelong fan of the WWE. You’ll remember that I’ve openly…

Posted by Stephen Amell on Tuesday, July 28, 2015

Arrow star Stephen Amell happens to be a big WWE fan who hails from Toronto, Ontario, another big wrestling town.

Not too long ago Amell attempted to take on Sting, as Sting was using the vigilante gimmick, sort of similar to Amell in the Arrow series.

It’s guessed when Amell came face-to-face at the recent Philadelphia Comic-Con with Sting, the (175lb?) actor quickly realized he wasn’t a match for the 6’3 250lb WWE Superstar.

Following that short feud, Amell attended a WWE event where he was called out by Codey Rhodes, aka Stardust.

It was originally thought that Amell and Rhodes might duke it out at next month’s Summer Slam, but we are guessing as production on Arrow has kicked off in Vancouver (Summer Slam is in Brooklyn), Amell can’t find the time to leave.

Now the latest regarding Arrow vs. Stardust is that the last couple of weeks on WWE RAW, Rhodes has been feuding with Neville (whose finisher is called the Red Arrow), with Rhodes saying stuff about super heroes and such. Earlier tonight on RAW saw Cody Rhodes mention super heroes again as well as “green hood” and appeared to rip up a magazine of Stephen Amell as Green Arrow.

Stephen Amell shared the above video on his Facebook noting “the time for talk is almost over,” which seems to be hinting that Amell will be taking on Cody Rhodes. Amell also previously made mention that the WWE will be in the area, which may suggest the battle will take place somewhere in the northwest.

August 8th does see the WWE have a house event in British Colombia, and the next Monday, WWE RAW is in Washington, not too far from where Amell is filming Arrow. Tuesday’s Smackdown is in Oregon as well.

Another possibility is that the WWE and Amell are setting up a match for Wrestlemania 32, which takes place in April at ATT&T Stadium in Texas. The WWE is going to try to take back the single event crowd record, which they previously held with Wrestlemania 3, but has since been beat by the NBA.

Marc Guggenheim Defends Casting Black Actor As Nazi Comic Character For Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21475:]]

The DC Comics Nazi super villain, Baron Blitzkreig, has been cast for Arrow Season 4 with British actor Jimmy Akingbola tapped to play the bad guy.

Well, seeing how Akingbola is black, this caused a bit of controversy online.

Now Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim has taken to EW.com to clear the air.

While true, in the comics the character is a Nazi, it turns out Jimmy Akingbola will be playing a slightly different version with Baron Reiter.

The article notes: “Marc Guggenheim wants to ‘disabuse people of the notion that we cast a black man as a Nazi, because that’s not actually what we did.'”

It’s further clarified that Baron Reiter acts as a foil for Oliver Queen in flashbacks, while Damien Darhk fills that role in the present-day story lines.

“We wanted a really great villain for Oliver in the flashbacks,” Guggenheim explained. “We wanted to come out of the gate strong with someone great and we wanted to, quite frankly, cast the best actor. As it turns out, our best actor was African-American.

“We took the name Baron Reiter without any intention of turning him into Baron Blitzkrieg,” he continued. “Baron Blitzkreig is the evil Nazi super villain. Baron Reiter is not going to become Baron Blitzkreig in the show.”

Guggenheim goes on to say that they only liked the fact that the Baron was associated with the evil organization called Shadowspire.

“We never planned on actually telling a story about a bad guy who is a Nazi,” Guggenheim said. “In fact, when people meet this character, he’s not German, he’s not a Nazi, he doesn’t subscribe to any Nazi philosophies. We were attracted to an organization that actually in the comics had been associated with Deathstroke called Shadowspire. In the comics, Baron Reiter became associated with Shadowspire.”

Guggenheim went on to say he understands the internet reaction.

“I totally get it. It’s all good. We were surprised because we mistakenly assumed that everyone was on the same page as we were, but why would they be? We haven’t told anyone anything about the flashbacks, but this was so obviously not our intention to do Baron Blitzkreig. If we were, in fact, doing a Nazi being played by an African American, I would expect us to be very duly Internet chastised.”
