Dwayne Johnson put up a rather interesting video and post on his Facebook page.

A hurricane hit Florida, but the actor still had to get to the gym.

The Rock mentions that there is no stopping him from getting there, but then asks with a smile: “What would Hugh Jackman do?”

Dwayne Johnson also tagged the post with Black Adam as the actor is set to play the character in the upcoming DC Comics Shazam movie.

Tone Of Shazam Movie Will Be Different Than DC & Marvel Films

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:17038:]]

Earlier today saw Dwayne Johnson announce he is playing Black Adam in the Shazam movie.

Now it’s learned that Shazam will be produced by New Line, a subsidiary of Warner Bros., and that the movie will have a different tone than the Warner Bros. Justice League and Marvel Avengers superhero films.

New Line president Toby Emmerich told EW.com the following:

“It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself. It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies.”

Emmerich couldn’t reveal much, but did state Shazam: “will have a sense of fun and a sense of humor. But the stakes have to be real.”

As Dwayne Johnson also mentioned, Emmerich confirms that Black Adam will not necessarily be a straight-up villain, but will be an anti-hero.

“Black Adam is a complex character. The villain in superhero movies is often, I think, what makes the movie. And I thought Dwayne’s take on the character, and the way that he saw Black Adam, was really compelling and fun.”

There is no release date as of yet for Shazam, and no lead actor for the part, but  Darren Lemke has been tapped to write the film.

Dwayne Johnson Confirms He Is Playing Black Adam In Shazam Movie

After teasing a role in a WB movie since the start of the year and also teasing a role in Shazam, Dwayne Johnson has now confirmed he will be playing Black Adam.

Dwayne Johnson took to his Twitter account to reveal the news:

In confirming Black Adam, Johnson also confirms a Shazam movie.

Update: Variety is stating Darren Lemke (Goosebumps, Turbo, Jack the Giant Slayer, Shrek Forever After, Lost,) is being brought on to write the Shazam script.

Shazam Movie Is Happening Says Dwayne Johnson: Confirms Black Adam Involvement

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:16862:]]

While Dwayne Johnson has been making the rounds for Hercules in Mexico, the actor also talked with the local press about the Shazam movie.

Yesterday saw Johnson mention he is giving his heart and soul to Shazam, and now The Rock talks more about the film with the Omlette where he confirms it’s definitely happening and also that Black Adam is involved.

It’s unknown which character Dwayne Johnson will be playing.

Translated via Bing:

My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called personally to the executives at New Line and Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam with me there, “said the actor. “Unfortunately, it wasn’t time yet, but the official announcement should happen soon”.

“I’m 100% sure that the film will happen. If we were talking about him since 2008, when I was offered the role for the first time. It was just a matter of finding the right script-and it finally happened now. We have a writer who understood the story and brought an incredible approach not only to Shazam, but for the power of black Adam as well, “concluded, suggesting that the film will seek some sort of balance between these two antagonistic characters.

Dwayne Johnson Putting His Heart & Soul Into Shazam & Black Adam

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:16849:]]

Dwayne Johnson is confirmed as a DC Comics character, but whether it is Shazam or Black Adam still remains a mystery.

While doing press for Hercules in Mexico, Dwayne Johnson comments he is giving the role (whatever it may be) his heart and soul.

Johnson seems to confirm the role will be more of an anti-hero role, and that it is Black Adam.

Via La Nacion (translated via Bing):

“I try a character from DC Comics. It is the story of Shazam, but I can not say now whether (my role) is Shazam or BlackAdam. We have been developing for some time and I’ve been a fan of the antiheros. This in particular, I believe that we will do him justice. I’m putting my soul and heart in this role.

“I have always been interested in two characters in my entire career, they have been my favorites since childhood: GreenLantern and Black Adam… I think that we just advance announcement!

“It is now happening with Superman and Batman. Aquaman and wonder woman are. I’m excited and I know that the fansare excited too. DC and Warner Bros. they have a great mythology that we are going to respect, let’s create something verycool and good foundation.”

Johnson previously teased the following image:

Dwayne Johnson Teases Black Adam

We may know Dwayne Johnson‘s DC Comics movie role as the actor just teased Black Adam on his social networks.

Johnson teased “Someone’s gonna get it..” with the following image which shows Black Adam taking on Superman and Shazam.

If indeed Johnson is playing Black Adam, that leaves someone else playing Shazam.

Any guesses?

Hopefully we’ll find out Saturday at Comic-Con.

Lex Luthor, Sinestro & Black Adam Are The Unholy Trinity For Villains Month Forever Evil Says Geoff Johns

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:10375:]]

The DC Comics mega event, Villains Month, kicks off in September with Forever Evil.

The Justice League are presumed dead with a band of villains taking over to rule the world.

Cosmic Book News recently spoke with writer Michael Alan Nelson about the brand new Cyborg Superman (spoiler!), and Supergirl.

Now Geoff Johns gives an update to CBR mentioning the trio of unlikely allies with Lex Luthor, Sinestro and Black Adam – the “Unholy Trinity” of the event.

In the first scene they were [in] together when Lex is talking about some things he wants done, both Black Adam and Sinestro are going to start to agree on a lot of philosophical things, and suddenly they just realize they both think the same, in a bizarre way. I never thought they would! They get along, which I never expected.

However, not everyone will get along as Johns says two villains in particular will butt heads.

Captain Cold and Black Manta don’t really mix. It’s fun to see those villains come together and unite to do something kind of heroic in a bizarre way.

Forever Evil and Villains Month are not just about a group of villains coming together, but these Earth villains will be going up against another Earth’s team of villains.

Johns previously let a batch of spoilers loose in that Forever Evil will also feature the bad guy versions of the Justice League with The Crime Syndicate.

Forever Evil #1 hits September 4th.

Dwayne Johnson Teases Superhero Movie Role; Talks Star Wars, Lobo & Black Adam

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6304:]]

Dwayne Johnson reveals that he will be playing a superhero in a movie as well as mentions two previous comic book movie roles with Lobo and Black Adam, and once again mentions Star Wars.

While promoting G.I. Joe Retaliation, in which he plays Roadblock, Dwayne Johnson answered questions about the Shazam and Lobo movies.

While those are no longer in active development, Dwayne Johnson did tell SuperHeroHype he will be playing a superhero.

“There’ll be a superhero I do,” he said with a grin, reports SHH.

As Dwayne Johnson was previously attached to two superhero Warner Bros. properties, it might be a safe bet that he will be playing another DC Comics character. We can speculate possibly the Martian Manhunter in the Justice League movie — or even perhaps a villain role?

Speaking of the two defunct DC Comics characters that he was attached to, Dwayne Johnson gives an interesting response in that the studio is no longer doing Lobo and Shazam, but are concentrating on other properties.

[Lobo] kind of came and went,” he explained. “It came. I thought it was interesting. Then it kind of went away… ‘Shazam‘ was more interesting. And really interesting to me. I would have loved that, especially the idea of playing Black Adam. Again, though, studios start to look at other properties and other superhero properties, what makes sense and what doesn’t.”

The fate of Lobo seemed sealed when producer Joel Silver walked away from Warner Bros.; in addition, it’s previously been stated that Warners wants to concentrate on building up their more popular line of characters with new Superman movies (Man of Steel in theaters June 14th), a Batman reboot, as well as the Justice League movie.

However, there is always the possibility that Dwayne Johnson has jumped ship with Marvel Studios. Johnson could possibly play Luke Cage in a Heroes For Hire movie, which has been mentioned by Marvel as a franchise that’s being looked at also with Iron Fist.

There’s also the fact that Dwayne Johnson wants to get involved in another Disney franchise, with Star Wars, as the House of the Mouse owns Marvel Studios as well.

Dwayne Johnson is definitely eyeing up a role in the new Star Wars, previously he mentioned that his favorite character was the bounty hunter Boba Fett – perhaps giving a clue as to the type of role he is seeking – and says he would love to be part of it.

“‘Star Wars’,” Johnson said with a smile, reports SHH. “And that’s not to say that they need it. Obviously they’re doing very well. J.J. [Abrams] is just gonna crush it. I’m so excited. There’s a guy, by the way, who’s not just a brilliant director, but who honors and respects mythology. You’ve seen that with ‘Star Trek’ and you’re going to see that with ‘Star Wars.’ I’m very excited about that.”

Speaking of hero roles, Dwayne Johnson will also be playing Hercules in the Brett Ratner-directed film which is adapted from a Radical Comics graphic novel.

The Rock will also be headlining Wrestlemania as he is set to go one on one with WWE Superstar John Cena for the heavyweight championship of the world.
