The new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, premiers tonight on Disney+ with the first two episodes.
Again, per the norm, the first reactions are overwhelmingly positive.
The early reactions to Star Wars: Skeleton Crew paint it as a nostalgic, fun, and family-friendly adventure that captures the spirit of 1980s Amblin films like The Goonies and E.T..
Critics have praised its “lighthearted tone,” “sense of wonder,” and engaging performances, particularly from Jude Law and the cast of young actors.
Many highlight the series’ accessibility for younger audiences, calling it an excellent introduction to the Star Wars universe while maintaining appeal for longtime fans.
Descriptions such as “delightful,” “refreshing,” and “energetic” underscore its mix of humor, adventure, and emotional warmth.
Though some noted a slower start, the show’s balance of kid-centric storytelling with broader Star Wars themes and action has been widely celebrated, making it a refreshing and engaging addition to the franchise.

The first two episodes of #SkeletonCrew are so much fun! Think 80's Amblin adventure vibes with a sprinkle of early Mando. The first episode admittedly takes a while to kick into gear though. I would genuinely do anything for Neel – what an absolute cutie! 💫 pic.twitter.com/iUt70Ctc2f

We can tweet about #SkeletonCrew? Nice to have a sense of wonder in the STAR WARS universe. Having kids be the center if this helps greatly. pic.twitter.com/gYEbBmTpC3

The first 3 episodes of #SkeletonCrew are a lot of fun. It's exactly what you'd expect from the trailers – Goonies in space – but the kids are not annoying (my biggest concern), Jude Law gives good scoundrel, and Nic Frost's droid is hilarious.
