Siobhán Cullen Says Henry Cavill’s Highlander Is ‘Definitely One For The Fans’

Siobhán Cullen is teasing Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot, and it sounds like fans can expect the action to deliver.

Speaking with Deadline, Cullen said she can’t reveal much about the movie, but did offer a brief update on the Henry Cavill-led film, calling it “definitely one for the fans.”

Cullen also praised the scale of the action Stahelski is bringing to the reboot.

“Some of the fighting scenes I’ve seen are just insane,” she said.

That should come as no surprise considering Stahelski’s background. Before directing the John Wick franchise, he worked as Keanu Reeves’ stunt double on The Matrix, and he’s now bringing that same action pedigree to Highlander.

Who Siobhán Cullen Is Playing

According to reports, Cullen is playing Brenda Wyatt, a police psychiatrist who becomes entangled in the world of immortals and eventually allies with Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod.

That sounds like a new spin on the character of Brenda from the original 1986 movie. In that film, Roxanne Hart played New York City forensics expert Brenda, who became suspicious of Connor as the story unfolded.

Highlander Cast Continues To Grow

The reboot features a packed cast led by Cavill as Connor MacLeod. Russell Crowe is playing Ramirez, Dave Bautista is playing Kurgan, and the movie also stars Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou, and Jeremy Irons.

Amazon MGM has been steadily building out the new Highlander with more immortals, characters tied to The Watchers, and what sounds like a bigger mythology than the original film that also ties to the popular Adrian Paul series.

A New Take On The Cult Classic

The original Highlander starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, the immortal Scottish warrior born in 1518. Sean Connery played his mentor, Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, while Clancy Brown played the villainous Kurgan hunting Connor through 1980s New York City.

The Adrian Paul series aired from 1992 to 1998 and had 119 episodes.

With Cullen now teasing the action and saying the reboot is “definitely one for the fans,” it sounds like Stahelski is aiming to give Highlander the kind of large-scale, sword-heavy revival fans have been waiting for.
