The CW's upcoming darker take on Archie with Riverdale will feature Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
EW.com reports the character made famous by the ABC sitcom and actress Melissa Joan Hart, which originated as part of the Archie comic, will appar on the upcoming show.
“Some people don’t even know that Sabrina is in the Archie family,” Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said. “There is absolutely a universe where Sabrina pops up in Riverdale or one town over in Greendale. Certainly, the priority is launching Riverdale and making sure that show is as good as it can be and as embraced as we want it to be. I’ll just tease that Sabrina has potential with a capital P.”
Melissa Joan Hart returning to the role of Sabrina the Teenage Witch is doubtful as the actess is now 40 years old; however, some sort of cameo would be pretty cool.
Riverdale premieres Thursday, January 26 at 9/8c starring K.J. Apa as Archie, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Camila Mendes as Veronica, Lili Reinhart as Betty, Marisol Nichols as Hermione, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl, Ashleigh Murray as Josie, Casey Cott as Kevin, Jason Santos as Dilton, Lochlyn Munro as Hal, Nathalie Boltt as Penelope, Ross Butler as Reggie, Asha Bromfield as Melody and Luke Perry as Fred Andrews.
The live-action series offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.
