Plastic Man is coming to the big screen from DC and WB.
It’s reported up-and-coming screenwriter Amanda Idoko has been hired to write the Plastic Man script, which is being described as a comedic action-adventure.
THR notes the project has been in the works for some time, as WB has been searching for a writer for six months.
It’s further said that WB is planning on staying true to the light-hearted and even silly tones of the character from the comics.
In the comics, Plastic Man was first published at Quality Comics back in 1941 and later acquired by DC Comics and published in 1956.
Patrick “Eel” O’Brian was an orphan who eventually turned to crime. On one of his capers, he was shot and doused with a chemical. Upon fleeing the scene, his gang had left him and he passed out at a nearby mountain monastery to be discovered by a monk who tended his injuries and saw good in him. Following his near death and realizing his gang left and didn’t really care for him, O’Brian decided to give up crime. While at the monastery O’Brien realized the chemical had gotten into his bloodstream and transformed him, giving him rubber-like plastic powers. O’Brien donned a costume, goggles and transformed his face and became Plastic Man, while at the same time pretending to be a criminal to keep his underworld connections to fight against them. Plastic Man also becomes a member of Justice League.
