Neill Blomkamp Alien 5 Not Happening Says Ridley Scott

Following the disappointing Prometheus film, it was thought Neill Blomkamp was going to breathe new life into the franchise with his Alien 5 movie.

Neill Blomkamp released concept art, and Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn were said to return for the fifth Alien movie.

Now the bad news is Alien 5 isn’t happening.

Alien: Covenant, Prometheus and original Alien director Ridley Scott fills in the French site Allocine that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 movie isn’t happening:

“I don’t think it will ever see the light of day. There was never a script. Just an idea that evolved from a dozen or so pages. I had to participate as producer, but it didn’t go farther because Fox decided it didn’t want to do it. As far I was concerned, I had already done Prometheus and I was working on Covenant. “

What is happening is more Alien movies from Ridley Scott, which is probably the real reason for Neill Blomkamp’s movie not going forward.

Ridley Scott recently said he has ideas for six more Alien movies, with the sequel to Alien: Covenant already written.

“If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six … I’m not going to close it down again. No way,” Ridley Scott told the Sydney Morning Herald.

News of Alien 5 getting shut down is rather disappointing. Honestly, as of right now, I would rather see Neill Blomkamp’s take on Alien than anything new from Ridley Scott, as I loathed Prometheus

Hopefully, Alien: Covenant turns things around.

Alien: Covenant has a May 19, 2017 release.
