Disney Finally Admits To Star Wars: The Last Jedi Fan Backlash

While various sites have been trying to spin that negative fan reaction to Star Wars: The Last Jedi wasn’t as strong as it seemed and even claimed some of it was fake, in addition to trying to defend the movie, now director Rian Johnson has taken to Twitter to address the controversy and disappointment.

A fan questioned Rian Johnson on Twitter if he thinks it’s a good thing that it’s polarizing to many and that people are discussing it, with Johnson replying his goal was never to get people mad.

“The goal is never to divide or make people upset, but I do think the conversations that are happening were going to have to happen at some point if sw is going to grow, move forward and stay vital,” Johnson said.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently the worse rated movie at Rotten Tomatoes by the general public – now having dropped to an all-time low of 53% – and even Mark Hamill stated he wasn’t thrilled with the direction of Luke Skywalker, which is what most fans are complaining about.

“He’s not my Luke Skywalker,” Hamill said. “Jedi’s don’t give up…  That’s the crux of my problem. Luke would never say that.”

From my own perspective, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the first movie where I have had friends and family come out so publicly and strong about their feelings of disliking the movie, so I believe the reactions are true and not made up.
