Thanos' motivations in The Avengers: Infinity War stand revealed.

In the Doctor Strange Blu-Ray that is released today, Avengers: Infinity War co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely talks about what makes the Mad Titan tick.

"His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal," McFeely offered.

As noted by Screen Rant, McFeely avoids mention of the plot found in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book which sees Thanos aquire the Infinity Gems (Stones in the MCU) and use the Infinity Gauntlet to please Death.

Without getting into spoiler territory, "to re-balance the universe" could obviously mean what went down in the comics when Thanos did use the Infinity Gauntlet. Suffice to say, it doesn't look good for the MCU superheroes!
