Marvel Studios is moving ahead with the Black Widow movie as it has found a director with Cate Shortland.
It’s reported Marvel searched for six months and went through 70 potential directors before finding the Australian-born Cate Shortland who is known for the Nazi drama movie, Lore.
The Black Widow movie will star Scarlett Johansson and is said to be another prequel – similar to Captain Marvel – set in the past prior to The Avengers movie featuring Natasha Romanoff as a Russian spy turned super heroine.
The most recent draft of the script was written by Jac Schaeffer who also wrote The Hustle, the female-centric remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Scarlett Johansson is also producing the Black Widow movie, and she recently appeared in The Avengers: Infinity War.
Black Widow marks the second female movie for Marvel Studios following Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson.
Scarlett Johansson made her MCU debut in Iron Man 2 back in 2010 for Jon Favreau.
