Hayley Atwell will be back as Agent Carter in Avengers: Doomsday joining the recently announced Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. who returns as Doctor Doom.
With Atwell back as Agent Carter it seems likely Evans will return as Steve Rogers and not another character.
Last we saw of the pair was in Avengers: Endgame. Steve went back in time to return the Infinity Stones and lived a full life with Peggy. Steve then passed the shield to Sam in the present day. Anthony Mackie will also be a part of Avengers: Doomsday, said to be playing Captain America.
Who are they playing?
It would actually be pretty wild if Hayley Atwell and Chris Evans played characters from the Multiverse, which they already did in the What IfâŠ? animated series. Perhaps they are from the world of Downeyâs Doom, who is rumored to be from the same Earth as the Fantastic Four. How about Hayley Atwell plays Captain Carter and Chris Evans plays Captain Hydra?!
There has even been a rumor floating around that Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter is supposed to replace Anthony Mackieâs Captain America in the MCU. However, following Brie Larsonâs Captain Marvel, Iman Vellaniâs Ms. Marvel, and Tatiana Maslanyâs She-Hulk all failing and the female audience not showing up, I donât think Marvel will be going that route. Who knows, wouldnât put it past Feige.
Avengers: Doomsday gets released on May 1, 2026. The Russos are directing.
