Avengers 5 A Possibility

Avengers 5 A Possibility

While the Avengers will be facing the endgame come next May, that doesn’t mean it will be the end of the Assemblers, so how about an Avengers 5?

Disney recently held a conference call for investors where CEO Bob Iger wouldn’t rule out additional Avengers movies following Avengers 4.

“We meet on a regular basis with our Marvel team, and we’ve plotted out Marvel movies that will take us well into the next decade,” Iger said on the call. “I’m guessing we will try our hand at what I’ll call a new franchise beyond Avengers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t see more Avengers down the road. We just haven’t made any announcements about that.”

Bob Iger also offered an insight into Avengers 4 is to “have a significant conclusion” to the story that began with 2008’s Iron Man, but he noted he wouldn’t rule out more Avengers movies down the road.

“Given the popularity of the characters and given the popularity of the franchise, I don’t think people should conclude there will never be another Avengers movie,” Iger said.

Having more Avengers movies of course makes sense seeing how The Avengers: Infinity War is the #1 movie of all time and currently has a $1.2 billion box office. We can probably also speculate that an Avengers 5 would feature new characters and actors, as the originals seem to be retiring from the role due to their contracts ending with Marvel. An Avengers 5 could possibly star Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and whatever new characters are introduced in the years to come.

Speaking of the years following Avengers 4, only two movies have been currently announced with Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

Here is Marvel Studios’ current release date slate. Maybe one will be for an Avengers 5?

  • Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6)
  • Captain Marvel (March 8, 2019)
  • Avengers 4 (May 3, 2019)
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel (July 5, 2019)
  • May 1, 2020 (speculated Guardians of the Galaxy 3)
  • July 31, 2020
  • Nov. 6, 2020
  • May 7, 2021
  • July 30, 2021
  • Nov. 5, 2021
  • Feb. 18, 2022
  • May 6, 2022
