Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise, and Joseph Kosinski have taken down Thanos and topped Marvel’s The Avengers: Infinity War at the domestic box office.
Top Gun 2 moves to the #6 position on the all-time domestic box office charts as the flick has brought in $679 million to Infinity War‘s $678.8 million.
In the number five position is Marvel’s Black Panther with $700 million, at #4 comes Avatar with $760 million, #3 is Spider-Man: No Way Home with $804 million, #2 is The Avengers: Endgame with $858 million, and the #1 movie at the domestic box office is Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens with $936 million.
Top Gun: Maverick worldwide box office has a ways to go
Regarding the worldwide gross, Top Gun: Maverick has a ways to go as it is currently at #13 with $1.38 billion, while films such as Infinity War are a lot higher ($2 billion) due to having a much higher foreign box office. The top movie of all time is Avatar with $2.847 billion followed by Avengers: Endgame with $2.797 billion, though Avatar has had multiple re-releases that helped push it past Endgame and is having another re-release on Sept. 23 ahead of Avatar 2’s Dec 16 release.
