Following its huge opening day in China, now the weekend estimates are out giving Warner Bros. a record-breaking box office for Aquaman.

Numbers for China include that Aquaman grossed $93.6 million, which is not only the best ever showing for a DC comic book movie, but the best ever for any WB film.

Aquaman has the biggest WB opening ever, which beats the recent Ready Player One movie by 66%.

Its weekend opening is a whopping 92% ahead of Justice League, 78% ahead of Batman vs. Superman, and it has already exceeded the entire lifetime box office gross of Wonder Woman in China (Suicide Squad never opened in China because of their ban on spirits and ghosts).

Aquaman has also delivered the biggest December opening in China with 85 percent of the market share. In addition, it brought in $9.7 million from IMAX screenings.

WB’s decision to open the movie first in China, which then roles out in additional foreign markets this week, and finally on Dec. 21 in the U.S., looks to have been a smart move as early word-to-mouth and reviews are really positive. The film is currently estimated to have an opening U.S. weekend box office of around $60 million, which sounds like a low number.

Aquaman also has an early screening on December 15 for Amazon Prime subscribers.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
