Prior to Iron Man. Before the Hulk. Ahead of Avengers. There was Blade! While many of the general audience may not have known it, Blade is actually a Marvel character, and now Kevin Feige talks about the possibility of more films.

Wesley Snipes starred in the Blade movie franchise that made well over a billion dollars with box office and licensing.

There has been chatter regarding more Blade, but nothing concrete.

The good news is that while promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige says he’s definitely open to doing more with Blade.

JoBlo caught up with Kevin Feige and asked about using Blade:

We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, “Oh, there’s life here.” But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise. That was always a great lesson for me, where you go, “It doesn’t matter how well known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is.” Which, many years later, would be the reason we do Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange. I think Blade is a legacy character now, and I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.

As pointed out, there doesn’t appear to be plans to use Blade any time soon, but you never know. With Doctor Strange kicking off the supernatural side of the MCU, maybe Blade will be a part of that or even kick off an MCU horror genre.

Comic book fans can look forward to more Blade in the upcoming Marvel Legacy title Spirits of Vengeance.
