Karen Gillan shares a look at the Highlander set in Scotland, posting a batch of images to Instagram with the caption, “In my natural habitat…”
The new post offers another look at Gillan filming Chad Stahelski’s Highlander starring Henry Cavill, with the actress posing in costume against the Scottish backdrop and also sharing behind-the-scenes shots from production.
Karen Gillan Posts More From Highlander Filming
Gillan’s images include scenic views from the Scottish location, a look at her in costume, trailers set up near the production, and a photo showing chairs labeled for both Henry Cavill and Karen Gillan.
She also included a castle image that appears to come from a video shot on a plane, adding another behind-the-scenes glimpse at the growing Highlander production.
Gillan Is Playing Heather
Gillan is playing Heather, Connor MacLeod’s mortal wife and the love of his life.
In the original 1986 film, after Connor is cast out by his clan, he settles into a quieter life as a blacksmith and marries Heather MacDonald. Her story becomes one of the emotional anchors of Highlander, showing the cost of immortality as Connor remains young while Heather grows old.
The new images continue to suggest the reboot is spending real time in Connor’s earlier life in Scotland.

Highlander Keeps Expanding in Scotland
The new Gillan post comes after recent set photos revealed Henry Cavill filming in period costume in Scotland, along with the first look at Gillan as Heather on set.
Amazon MGM also recently showed the first Highlander footage at CinemaCon, teasing the bigger scale of the reboot, its action, and its mix of fantasy and history as the immortals move across centuries toward The Gathering.
With Gillan now sharing more from the production, Highlander continues to look like it is leaning hard into its Scottish roots while building out the larger mythology.
