With the introduction of Captain Marvel and Brie Larson, many fans are worried about The Avengers: Endgame, in that the character might again be a Mary Sue and swoop in and save the day, stealing the spotlight from the Assemblers.
The good news is that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at least confirms The Avengers: Endgame will focus on the original six assemblers consisting of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, as Feige fills in Empire Magazine the following, perhaps alleviating fears that Brie Larson and Captain Marvel will steal the thunder:
“People would point out that that Cap wasn’t in Infinity War a whole lot. And Iron Man didn’t really speak for that last half hour because of what was going on. But those characters, and all of the original six, are very much the focus of Endgame in a very personal and emotional way.”
Likewise, with Marvel Studios and Brie Larson promoting Carol Danvers as the new Captain, The Avengers: Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus smooths things over a bit with mention the Captain America has always been their guy (but of course, all bets are off following Endgame):
“(Cap’s) been our guy since we started at Marvel. He’s the barometer for the team. You go look for Captain America and if he’s still fighting, you keep fighting. But if he’s sitting on his butt in the dirt, saying, ‘Oh God,’ that really, really means you lost.”
The new trailer for The Avengers: Endgame also teases a confrontation between Thor and Captain Marvel. It will be interesting to see how the Avengers accept Carol Danvers. Check it out:
The Avengers: Endgame has an April 26, 2019 release directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.
