Rumors have been swirling for months about Ryan Reynolds appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, especially with reports that the Deadpool writers may be reworking the script. Now, Reynolds has finally addressed the speculation — with humor.
Speaking to EW during a discussion about John Candy Easter eggs hidden in the Deadpool films, Reynolds was asked whether fans could expect similar nods in Avengers: Doomsday and if he could confirm his involvement.
“There’s four that I’ve got in there,” Reynolds joked. “Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”
Update: Channing Tatum has also confirmed Ryan Reynolds hasn’t been on set.
Deadpool Influence Still Looming
While Reynolds gave a gag answer, his name continues to be linked to Avengers: Doomsday.
Rumors claim Marvel is looking to the Deadpool team to help salvage the script, fueling speculation that Reynolds could play a larger role in the film.
Deadline has also said Reynolds will not be in Avengers: Doomsday, yet THR has said he is.
