New Avengers – Thunderbolts – Flops So Hard Fans Waited for $5 Tickets: Tuesday Box Office Report

New AvengersThunderbolts – whatever – continues to bomb at the box office as the flick scores the fifth-lowest box office for a first Tuesday in the history of the MCU, when you factor in inflation.

This follows Monday also being the second-lowest, and the disastrous opening weekend box office, also the second-lowest in MCU history. Wednesday also saw a massive drop. Thursday is the fourth-worstas is its second Friday.

Update: The second weekend box office also failed to deliver.

What is the Tuesday box office?

Thunderbolts brought in $7.4M on Tuesday. This is better than Cap 4’s $6.3M and The Marvels‘ $3.3M. It’s also better than Quantumania‘s $7 million and Eternals‘ $5.3M.

We also see Thunderbolts doesn’t hold up to Feige’s other bombs post-Endgame, including Black Widow ($7.7M), which got released in theaters AND AT THE SAME TIME on Disney+, and Shang-Chi ($6.6M, but $7.79M when adjusted for inflation).

Does the Tuesday bump mean anything?

While New Avengers/Thunderbolts did see a good bump from Monday (+49%), what does that mean when no one went to see the movie on Monday?

Also, while on Tuesday it did manage to beat Captain America: Brave New World, the ticket prices for Tuesday are at the bottom of the bargain bin.

What it means is that Disney made even less money (half the money from ticket sales domestic, even less foreign).

Thunderbolts’ second weekend could see big dip

What it also says is that some fans waited until the Tuesday deep discount day ($5 tickets) to see Thunderbolts instead of seeing the flick right away.

It could also suggest that a big box office drop is coming in its second weekend. If moviegoers are waiting and don’t want to pay full price, why would they wait and pay full price in weekend two?

For a comparison to another MCU movie that is horrible, the first Tuesday of Thor: Love and Thunder saw double the MCU fans show up, with over $13.6M!

MCU stans are in a stake of shock and disbelief

The MCU shillboys on social media have also been acting like Thunderbolts has already made a billion dollars (LOL). Right now, it’s underperforming compared to Cap 4 — which Disney recently confirmed in its investor report is a big fail.

In its first five days, Cap 4 brought in over $106M. Thunderbolts, despite “rebranding” to “New Avengers,” has only brought in $86.7M.

Even if Thunderbolts manages to catch up, and if it finishes with around $400M like Cap 4, that’s still a bomb. Both of the flicks have massive budgets. Numbers don’t like folks! However, you try to spin it!

Weekend two will be a big test. Maybe those shillboys should spend their hard-earned dollars and go see Thunderbolts New Avengers again! New Avengers which has NOTHING to even do with the movie!
