Warner Bros. Discovery is going big for Superman Day 2026.
The company announced a global celebration for April 18 tied to Superman, Supergirl, and Krypto, with fan events planned in Los Angeles, Milan, and Fuzhou.
The push also lines up with DC Studios’ Supergirl movie, which hits theaters this June, and the launch of a new Superman attraction at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank.
The anniversary marks Superman’s first appearance in Action Comics #1, and Warner Bros. Discovery is using the occasion to roll out pop-up experiences, new comics, digital content, marathons, merchandise, and more across DC, HBO Max, Warner Bros. Animation, and its consumer products division.

Superman Day 2026 goes global
The biggest part of the Superman Day 2026 rollout is the trio of pop-up events in Los Angeles, Milan, and Fuzhou.
Each location will feature a Daily Planet-themed newsstand, giveaways, prizes, Krypto photo ops, and oversized Superman S-Shield displays.
Los Angeles will host a one-day event at The Americana at Brand on April 18. Warner Bros. says fans will be able to pick up a special edition Daily Planet newspaper, themed snacks and drinks, and take part in a scratch-off activity for prizes. Some of those prizes include tickets to the new Superman Experience: Defenders Unite attraction and digital downloads of James Gunn’s 2025 Superman movie.
The Los Angeles stop also leans hard into the Krypto angle, with a Doghouse of Solitude photo spot and even adoptable puppies on site through Best Friends Animal Society.
Milan gets a two-day event running April 18 through April 19 in the CityLife neighborhood, with Daily Planet newspapers, ice cream, dog treats, and a Milan-exclusive photo booth where fans can print a Metropolis-themed postcard.
In Fuzhou, the activation will take place during the Bubbling Boiling Music Festival and include its own exclusive Krypto photo opportunity and a giant S-Shield installation.

New Superman experience opens April 18
Warner Bros. is also using Superman Day 2026 to open Superman Experience: Defenders Unite at Stage 5 on the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Burbank.
The attraction is described as a walkthrough experience and live gameplay event inspired by James Gunn’s 2025 Superman movie. According to the press release, fans will enter the Fortress of Solitude, be recruited by Superman, and join a battle against Darkseid (full details and the trailer here).
Warner Bros. says the attraction uses motion capture tech, active 3D glasses, and high-definition audio to create the illusion of flying alongside Superman.

Supergirl is a major part of the marketing
While Superman remains the focus of the holiday, Warner Bros. is also using Superman Day 2026 to boost Supergirl ahead of the movie’s release.
This year’s celebration expands to include Kara Zor-El and Krypto in a much bigger way, with Supergirl taking center stage across comics, merchandise, and streaming promotions.
DC’s publishing plans include Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1 – Superman Day 2026 Special Edition, plus other Supergirl-focused books and facsimile editions. Participating comic shops and bookstores will also feature what DC is calling a Summer of Supergirl initiative.
Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products is also launching a Supergirl merchandise collection on April 18 with products from partners including Funko, McFarlane Toys, and DC Shop.

Krypto keeps getting pushed hard
Krypto is also all over this campaign.
The dog is featured at the live fan events, in the pop-up photo experiences, in the new DC Kids YouTube short release, and in the adoption-themed charity effort with Best Friends Animal Society.
Warner Bros. Animation will release a new episode of Krypto Saves the Day! on April 18 titled Coastal Catastrophe. The short will debut on the DC Kids YouTube channel and follows Krypto dealing with beachside trouble while trying to get to a hot dog.

HBO Max, TV marathons, and social media tie-ins
HBO Max will promote Superman Day with a dedicated content hub featuring Superman movies, animated shows, and the 2025 Superman film.
Subscribers will also be pushed toward the Fortress of Solitude collection, which includes Superman & Lois, My Adventures with Superman, and Krypto Saves the Day!
On linear TV, TBS will air a Superman-themed Big Bang Theory marathon from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ET on April 18.
DC’s social accounts are also part of the campaign. The company says writers and artists will share favorite Superman comics, the DC Official Discord will vote on top moments from Superman (2025), and DC will offer live coverage from the Los Angeles event.

Supergirl release date and movie details
Warner Bros. also used the announcement to remind fans that Supergirl is almost here.
The movie stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie directing from a script by Ana Nogueira. The official synopsis says Kara teams with an unlikely companion after a ruthless adversary hits too close to home, sending her on an interstellar mission of vengeance and justice.
Supergirl opens in theaters and IMAX in North America on June 26, 2026, with international release starting June 24.

Warner Bros. is turning Superman Day into a full DC event
Superman Day used to be more of a niche comics celebration. Warner Bros. Discovery is now treating it like a major cross-platform event.
Between the global pop-ups, the Burbank attraction launch, the Supergirl marketing push, the Krypto focus, and the publishing rollout, Superman Day 2026 looks less like a one-day tribute and more like a coordinated DC brand campaign.
It also gives Warner Bros. another chance to keep Superman front and center while setting the table for Supergirl this summer and James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow in 2027.
