Christopher Nolan has released the first trailer for The Odyssey, his next theatrical film and a large-scale adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
The movie brings the ancient myth to the big screen using brand-new IMAX film technology and opens worldwide on July 17, 2026.

The Odyssey is described as a mythic action epic shot across multiple countries using newly developed IMAX cameras. It marks the first time Homer’s foundational saga has been captured on IMAX film, continuing Nolan’s long-standing commitment to large-format theatrical experiences.
The trailer emphasizes scale, practical locations, and intense physical performances rather than heavy CGI, staying in line with Nolan’s filmmaking approach.

The film features a high-profile ensemble led by Matt Damon, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.
