Netflix has dropped the full trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and this time the focus shifts from Victor Frankenstein to the Creature himself, played by Jacob Elordi.
The Gothic passion project hits select theaters on October 17 before premiering globally on Netflix on November 7.
A New Look at the Creature
The first teaser highlighted Oscar Isaac’s Victor Frankenstein, but the new trailer is told through the eyes of the Creature. “My maker told his tale,” Elordi whispers over images of a lightning-struck tower. “And I will tell you mine.”
In del Toro’s adaptation, the Creature is presented less as a lumbering monster and more as a tragic, statuesque figure. “He needs to feel like a baby, and then he needs to feel like a philosopher, like a man,” del Toro explained to Netflix.

Born of War
This version of Frankenstein’s Creature originates on the battlefield. Del Toro says the character was built from the mutilated corpses of soldiers from the Crimean War, describing him as “a resurrected soldier out of a mass grave.”
The trailer shows the Creature haunted by the memories of those past lives, stalking through gunfire, and unleashing his fury on a grounded ship. “If you are not to award me love,” he intones, “then I will indulge in rage.”

Elordi’s Inspiration
Elordi revealed he drew on surprising sources for his performance — including the Japanese dance form butoh and even his own golden retriever. “There’s a real innocence in the way she moves and the way that she loves,” he said. That sense of vulnerability contrasts with the Creature’s power and rage, underscoring del Toro’s signature approach to monsters as both terrifying and deeply human.

The Cast
Alongside Elordi and Isaac, the film stars Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
