And that’s all she wrote, folks, for the live-action Wheel of Time series at Amazon, as the series has been canceled after three seasons.
The news comes after the final episode was released on April 17.
It also follows fan backlash with what happened when they killed off a fan-favorite character at the end of Season 3.

Why was The Wheel of Time canceled?
As often is the case, The Wheel of Time has been canceled because the viewership doesn’t justify the high price tag.
It’s known that the Season 3 ratings took a hit as the series disappeared from the Nielsen charts after the first three weeks of Season 3, while every episode of the first two seasons made the charts.
According to the trades, despite efforts to explore various options, Season 3’s performance ultimately didn’t justify the high production costs. After internal discussions and talks with lead studio Sony TV, Prime Video decided not to move forward with another season.

Mixed fan reaction
The Wheel of Time was favored by the critics, as the Rotten Tomatoes Score stands at 94%; however, we see the fan score is only at 77%, which is pretty low with something that has such a passionate fanbase (Season 1 has a 61% fan score).
Regarding the fan backlash – spoiler – the series killed off Siuan in the final episode. Showrunner Rafe Judkins’ most recent post on Instagram is filled with comments from unhappy fans.
Comments include “Justice for Siouan Sanche,” “SIUAN SANCHE DESERVED BETTER!!!,” and “Interesting way to celebrate greatness, by prematurely killing off the best character in the show and losing one of your most incredible actors. I hope you’re at least counting these. To me the show is ruined, including the past two seasons that I loved.”

What is The Wheel of Time about?
Based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling fantasy series, The Wheel of Time follows Rand al’Thor, a humble farm boy who learns he is the Dragon Reborn—a prophesied figure fated to either save the world or destroy it. As the Last Battle looms, the fate of all hangs in the balance.
After defeating Ishamael in Season Two and being declared the Dragon Reborn in Falme, Rand faces growing threats. The White Tower is fractured, the Black Ajah operates unchecked, old enemies rise in the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken close in—most dangerously, Lanfear. Her deep bond with Rand forces a critical choice between Light and Dark. As Rand’s power grows more unstable and his connection to his past weakens, those closest to him—Moiraine and Egwene—must unite to stop him from falling into darkness, even if it means sacrificing everything.
The cast includes:
Rosamund Pike (Moiraine), Daniel Henney (Lan), Josha Stradowski (Rand), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve), Madeleine Madden (Egwene), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin), Dónal Finn (Mat), Ceara Coveney (Elayne), Kate Fleetwood (Leandrin), Natasha O’Keefe (Lanfear), Ayoola Smart (Aviendha), and Kae Alexander (Min).
Developed by Rafe Judkins, the series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television, with executive producers including Judkins, Rosamund Pike, Rick Selvage, Larry Mondragon, Mike Weber, Ted Field, Marigo Kehoe, Ciaran Donnelly, Justine Juel Gillmer, and Dave Hill.
