A movie adaptation of the Until Dawn video game is in the works from the director of the DC Shazam! movies, David F. Sandberg, who reteams with his Annabelle: Creation writer, Gary Dauberman.
Until Dawn is a survival horror adventure video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 4 in August 2015.
The game is an interactive drama that follows a group of eight young adults who have to survive on Blackwood Mountain when their lives are threatened.
The story is driven by player choices, and the game features a branching narrative with multiple endings based on the decisions made by the player.
R-rated love letter to the horror genre
The synopsis for the movie hasn’t been released by Screen Gems is describing the flick as an R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centering on an ensemble cast.
Prior to the Shazam! movies, David F. Sandberg was known for horror, also having directed Lights Out. Likewise, Gary Dauberman is also known for the first Anabelle, the IT movies, and The Nun films.
Sandberg and Dauberman are also producing, with Roy Lee, and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
