Zack Snyder is back at it, again.
On Sunday night, the director posted a throwback photo with Henry Cavill from their Comic-Con days in the Man of Steel era, writing that it’s “always a good day when this one shows up.”
The post pulled over 31K likes in its first six hours. You can see it below.
“When This One Shows Up”
Read that caption again, because it’s present tense.
Snyder isn’t saying it was a good day back then. He’s saying it’s a good day when Cavill shows up, which has fans asking the obvious question: did Cavill just show up?
That question lands differently at CBN than anywhere else, because as I have been reporting since October, the SnyderVerse return in play at a Paramount-owned Warner Bros. includes Henry Cavill back as Superman, with Christopher Nolan possibly attached as executive producer.
This is also Snyder’s fourth Cavill post in a month, after he marked the 4th of July with Cavill’s Superman and, most recently, teased “hope rises” with black suit Superman.
The Music Is Never An Accident
The post is set to Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today.”
You know the lyric: today is the greatest day.
Snyder and the Pumpkins go way back, too. The Watchmen trailer famously ran on “The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning,” one of the most celebrated trailer needle drops ever.
And after a month where Snyder scored his Frank Miller announcement to Justice League music and set a Dark Knight Returns morph video to Philip Glass, nobody should still believe his soundtrack picks are random.
And A 300 Deep Cut On His Story
Same day, Snyder’s Instagram story shared a post from unclewow, better known as Larry Fong, the cinematographer who shot 300, Watchmen, and Batman v Superman.
The clip shows behind-the-scenes wire work from the 300 cliff battle.
His original DP, his Frank Miller adaptation, two weeks after Snyder sat next to Miller and said a Dark Knight Returns movie happens “when they let us.”
The Timing, As Always
Now stack the calendar.
The Cavill post comes one day after a scooper claimed Kevin Feige is interested in Zack Snyder, which itself followed everything Snyder said and posted in July.
It also lands as the merger picture shifts. Governor Newsom is putting heat on Rob Bonta to settle the Paramount lawsuit, while Paramount pushes for a November trial and the states push for April 2027.
Every path to “when they let us” runs through that fight, and if California folds, the “when” gets a lot closer.
