Xolo Maridueña has responded to his Man of Tomorrow return, without typing the words “Man of Tomorrow.”
Days after the news broke that he’s coming back as Blue Beetle in James Gunn’s Superman sequel, Maridueña posted a carousel of never-before-seen behind-the-scenes images from the 2023 movie on Instagram, telling fans it “seems like as good a time as ever to check out Blue Beetle (2023).”
Wink received.
The first image comes from his camera test on Day 1 of filming: Maridueña in the full Blue Beetle suit, standing in a rock tunnel rigged with purple and pink neon.
He described playing Jaime Reyes as the most gratifying experience he’s had, shouted out director Ángel Manuel Soto, DC, the crew, and the BlueBeetleBattalion fan community, and said it’s BTS he’ll never get over.

Worth noting what’s still missing: an official announcement.
DC Studios hasn’t said a word. Deadline reached out for comment and TheWrap couldn’t reach a rep, so the rollout remains scoops, trade confirmations, and now the actor himself pointing fans back to his own movie.
The Cameo Pile Keeps Growing
As we covered earlier this week, scooper Daniel Richtman had the Blue Beetle news first, TheWrap confirmed within hours, and Variety and Deadline followed.
Maridueña joins a pile that already includes Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, Supergirl, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, the Engineer, Maxima, Rick Flag Sr., Matthew Lillard’s mystery role, and Gunn’s Guy Gardner tease from the set.
That’s exactly the big cameos and fan service insiders told us to expect for what could be Gunn’s last hurrah.
Three years after Gunn declared Blue Beetle “the first DCU character,” the first DCU character’s big reintroduction assignment is telling fans to go rewatch his 2023 movie.
