UPDATE 2: A Mystique shortlist rumor names Hunter Schafer, Melissa Barrera, and Elle Fanning.
UPDATE: The cast keeps growing. Asa Germann is Marvel’s Angel, the first addition since D23.
A source who read the script for Marvel’s X-Men reboot is comparing it to Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman.
The claim comes from scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, who says the source had nothing but praise for the screenplay.
“A source recently read the script for the MCU’s X-Men reboot and had nothing but praise for it,” posted the account.
The post continues: “They described it as: ‘If Thunderbolts*, X-Men: First Class, Batman v Superman, and The Breakfast Club had a baby, it would be this.'”
Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman Is Now A Compliment
Four movies get named, and one stands out.
Thunderbolts*, First Class, and The Breakfast Club sketch the shape: a team of young misfits thrown together in a character-driven origin story.
Batman v Superman is the wild card.
Zack Snyder’s 2016 movie spent years as the internet’s favorite punching bag, and now it’s being used as a selling point for Marvel’s biggest reboot.
The Snyder comparison points to heroes in conflict and a heavier, more serious tone than Marvel’s usual goofy approach.
A John Hughes hangout movie crossed with Snyder-scale conflict would be a different X-Men film than Fox ever made.

DC vs Marvel back on
The comparison to the SnyderVerse actually might have some merit as it’s known Feige likes to copy Zack.
The Russos revealed they only went forward with Civil War when Snyder first announced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Likewise, Eternals is thought to be a desperate attempt to match Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and even Feige going with the Multiverse approach and using three Spider-Man versions in No Way Home is thought to have been a worrisome response to The Flash (the real version of it).
What’s particularly interesting is that our insiders have told us that, with Paramount buying WBD, the Saudis want to back a SnyderVerse-level event to rival Marvel. We have also been told that Snyder is kicking things off with a straight adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, with Ben Affleck back as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman.
Insiders say that James Gunn is due to be let go from DC once his contract expires next year.

The 2028 Reboot Is Deep In Prep
Jake Schreier is directing the movie for 2028, and Marvel unveiled its next-generation cast at D23, headlined by Adam Driver as Mister Sinister and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
Behind the camera, Pat Scola confirmed he’s shooting the film.
The casting chatter hasn’t slowed down either, with the same account floating Noah Schnapp, Wagner Moura, and Malachi Barton for MCU roles this week.
Before the new team arrives, the legacy X-Men show up in Avengers: Doomsday on December 18.
