It’s official. Marvel Studios confirmed the X-Men movie during Friday night’s D23 presentation, and the mutants hit theaters May 5, 2028.
Kevin Feige’s segment delivered the reveal with giant golden X logos filling the arena and the entire team assembling on stage, per Brandon Davis on X.
The date is a statement of intent. Avengers: Secret Wars closes out the Multiverse Saga in December 2027, which makes X-Men the first movie of whatever the MCU becomes next. The mutants aren’t guest starring. They’re the relaunch.
It also lands almost exactly 20 years after Iron Man started it all in May 2008.
Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey Leads The New Era
Sadie Sink‘s Jean Grey just made her debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is still shredding box office records on its way toward $2 billion.
Kevin Feige has already said Sink’s Jean Grey carries immense significance and a “key role in the future of the MCU.”
The first group is now official, and Feige said on stage that more casting is still to come. Samara Weaving is Emma Frost, Kit Connor is Cyclops, and Christopher Abbott is Professor X.
Inde Navarrette, who Superman & Lois viewers know as Sarah Cushing and who just starred in Obsession, plays Rogue, with Maya Boyd as Storm.
Then there’s the big one: Adam Driver is in the movie as Nathaniel Milbury.
Comic fans will clock that name instantly. Milbury is a longtime alias of Nathaniel Essex, better known as Mister Sinister, so Marvel just announced its villain while pretending it didn’t.
Driver circled Marvel for years, including reported talks for Reed Richards, and now finally lands in the MCU on the wrong side of the fight.

Thunderbolts Director Builds A Young Team
Jake Schreier directs coming off Thunderbolts*, and Sink has talked up the plan to start young with a new generation of mutants, saying she’s been screen testing with actors to lock in team chemistry ahead of cameras rolling next year.
The old guard gets its sendoff first, with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen returning in Avengers: Doomsday this December.
The reveal came during a stacked Marvel segment that also featured the VisionQuest trailer with Paul Bettany and James Spader, plus a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
