Marvel’s X-Men has a cast, a release date, and now apparently a start window, and that window is a lot sooner than most of the internet thinks.
The same Filmbase industry update that flagged a five-week crew hiatus on Avengers: Secret Wars also carries an X-Men entry.
It sits under productions starting up, with the location listed as to be confirmed, either Ireland or Pinewood, and the shoot expected to begin toward the end of summer.
Filmbase is a UK crew site that runs job alerts and directories for freelancers in British film and television. Its roundup carries a disclaimer stating it is not an official list from any studio, that it was assembled from conversations with crew, and that readers should treat it as a research starting point rather than confirmed fact.
Adam Driver Already Answered The Location Question
Filmbase says Ireland or Pinewood. Marvel may have settled that itself five days ago.
When Adam Driver crashed the D23 panel by video to reveal he is playing Nathaniel Milbury, he was not in California.
He joked that when Kevin Feige told him to show up for X-Men, he assumed that meant on set, then explained he was “here at Pinewood on this very lonely soundstage.”
For what it is worth, Milbury is not a random name either. Nathaniel Essex operated under the Milbury alias in the comics for years before dropping the pretense as Mister Sinister.
End Of Summer Is Earlier Than Thought
Plenty of outlets have spent the last week repeating that X-Men starts filming in 2027.
The crew-side listing says end of summer, meaning now.
Rotten Tomatoes updated its X-Men explainer this week to say filming begins soon at Pinewood, with Pat Scola shooting and Kasra Farahani designing.
That timeline actually works in Jake Schreier’s favor. X-Men opens May 5, 2028. A shoot starting now hands him something no Marvel movie has enjoyed in years, which is a genuinely long post-production runway.
Pinewood Is Getting Crowded
The same update lists the Avengers: Secret Wars production at Pinewood on a five-week hiatus, with every department released and a return set for the end of September.
So Marvel has one movie pausing at Pinewood and another movie starting at Pinewood in the same window. Stages open up. Crew becomes available.
Whether that is coincidence or scheduling, Marvel is now running its two biggest bets through the same lot at the same time.
X-Men also happens to be the first movie following Secret Wars. Connect the dots?
The Cast Marvel Announced At D23
Sadie Sink introduced the roster on stage after debuting as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Kit Connor plays Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott plays Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving plays Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette plays Rogue, and Maya Boyd plays Storm, with Driver as Milbury.
The reveal drew immediate backlash over the makeup of the roster, and Deadline read Hugh Jackman’s D23 appearance as a signal that he is not the Wolverine of this reboot.
If cameras really are rolling at Pinewood within weeks, the rest of that roster gets filled fast, and the Henry Cavill rumors get settled one way or the other in a hurry.
