Wonder Woman seems to be a hot topic as of late.
It was recently learned that Warner Bros. is apparently accepting pitches for a potential Wonder Woman movie as Paul Kieg let it be known that WB didn’t go for his idea.
Chronicle writer Max Landis also stated he was going to pitch a Wonder Woman movie, and The Dark Knight and Man of Steel scribe, David S. Goyer, stated he’s interested as well.
Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara also said they are focusing on Wonder Woman and want to get her in front of audiences ASAP.
JMS also added in a few thoughts.
Now the latest regarding Wonder Woman comes from an executive at Warner Bros. with Greg Silverman, who is asked about the DC characters appearing in Batman Vs. Superman with his response specifically mentioning the Princess of Themyscira.
We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them. Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it’s a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero.
Variety flat out asks if Wonder Woman will be appearing in the movie with Silverman seeming to say they are keeping their options open.
We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that’s respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can. So everything that has been speculated are things that we’ve thought about.
In addition to passing on Paul Kieg’s pitch, NBC passed on the Wonder Woman series and the CW seems to have buried the “Amazon” show. It could be that WB wants to go ahead with a more serious approach as the preceding were more of the light-comedy and campy type. Marvel Studios’ Thor movies comes up a lot amongst fans when questioned how to do Wonder Woman right.
