Back at the NYCC in 2011, I interviewed Stan Lee about his gorgeous science-fiction adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic family squabble, Romeo And Juliet: The War.
It was in part written and “re-imagined” by Terry Dougas and published by 1821 Comics. It saw the Montegue’s and Capulet’s arguing and battling it out on another planet in the far future, with digital art by Skan Srisuwan.
Now we learn that Dougas is bringing another classic tale to outer space as Deadline has it that Warner Bros. is adapting Homer’s Odyssey as a space-based movie, describing it as a “re-imagining,” from Dougas and his 1821 Films.
Newcomer James DiLapo is on as writer, and it’s been said that Brad Pitt was even attached to star at one time.
Dougas also has Jane Got A Gun in development which is set to star Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender.
The Odyssey is the second of Homer’s epics, sequel to the Iliad, that centers around the hero Odysseus after the fall of Troy. He is presumed dead with his son and mother dealing with suitor’s attempting to acquire Odysseus’ fortunes.
