Marvel Studios finally let the public see VisionQuest, dropping the trailer during Friday night’s Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23 with Paul Bettany and James Spader on stage.
The footage arrives ten months after Marvel screened a trailer behind closed doors at New York Comic Con and then sat on it, so fans finally get to judge the WandaVision trilogy capper for themselves.

Ultron Is In Vision’s Head
The trailer opens with White Vision hiding out among humans and getting asked about “that redhead,” a not so subtle nod to the Scarlet Witch.
Bettany’s synthezoid is in full identity crisis mode, admitting he was an Avenger but is no hero anymore, saying he has Vision’s face “but not his virtue.”
The hook is that Vision’s mind appears to manifest as a house filling up with the MCU’s AIs in human form, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., and E.D.I.T.H., with a “human avatars only” rule and one genocidal stowaway.
Spader’s Ultron gets the biggest laugh pitching what Vision should call him, offering up “Dad? Papa? Peepaw?” while J.A.R.V.I.S. warns about the dangers of keeping him around.
Another line sums up the whole premise, asking how Vision expects to find his purpose “with a genocidal maniac inside your head,” which is the show in a sentence.
Vision Has A Son
The trailer’s big swing is Tommy Maximoff, complete with a “Mazel tov. It’s a boy” gag and Vision being told to “save your son.”
Ruaridh Mollica plays Tucker, the vessel carrying Tommy’s soul after the Agatha All Along ending, and the trailer leans into Vision inheriting the family Wanda made for him in Westview.
Vision protests that the family wasn’t real and gets the pushback fans have been giving that line for five years: you sure about that?
Ultron lands the kicker, noting that nothing bonds a family together quite like mortal jeopardy.
Bettany And Spader Reunite At D23
Marvel framed the stage moment as father and son reuniting, with Bettany and Spader appearing together as the trailer debuted, and Kevin Feige on stage for the studio’s presentation.
Per Brandon Davis, who was in the room, Feige set up the release by noting this year closes out the trilogy of shows that started with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along, “and now Vision gets his own series.”
Bettany called playing Vision a privilege, joking that the character made the ultimate sacrifice in Infinity War and “rather inconveniently died several times.”
“I am told that in the Marvel universe no one is ever really dead unless Kevin says they’re dead,” Bettany said, adding he wouldn’t really trust him anyway.
The actor teed up the show’s question of what makes us human and who you’d most want beside you during an existential crisis: “Ultron is back and we’re gonna figure out humanity together so that should go extremely well!”
Spader shot back that he couldn’t believe it took Vision so long to turn to him, insisting everyone knows Ultron has long been fascinated with humanity, with Bettany noting that fascination mostly involved wiping everyone out before Feige stepped in to roll the trailer.
It follows a full day of VisionQuest at the expo, after the booth revealed the first look at Spader’s human Ultron form Friday morning.
The eight-episode series comes from showrunner Terry Matalas and wraps the trilogy that began with WandaVision and ran through Agatha All Along, as we covered when Marvel unveiled the series at Disney’s Upfronts.
