Marvel Television has released the official trailer for VisionQuest ahead of the October 14 premiere on Disney+.
Paul Bettany is back as Vision and James Spader returns as Ultron in the eight-episode series, which opens with a two-episode premiere and closes out the trilogy that started with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along.
The trailer also lands at a strange moment for Marvel TV: VisionQuest is the last new live-action Marvel series on the Disney+ schedule.
Vision Walks Into A Trap
The footage opens with Vision calmly walking up to a front desk and announcing he is there “for the trap.” The shooting starts immediately.
Per Marvel’s official synopsis, Vision has been in hiding since escaping the people who wanted to weaponize him, searching for meaning by consulting the AI personas buried in his programming: Friday, Edith, Jarvis, and Ultron.
A bounty on his head ends the quiet life and puts him on the run with Thomas Shepard (Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate.
Fans know the setup. Tommy is one of Wanda and Vision’s twin boys from WandaVision, and his brother Billy already came back reincarnated as Wiccan in Agatha All Along.
The new footage shows Tommy using super speed, the same powers as his uncle Pietro.
Wanda hangs over all of it. Tommy brings up his mother, and Vision studies a wooden heart carved with “W+V” inside it.
There is also a red-hooded figure with glowing eyes. Fans are already split on whether that is Wanda, a double, or Jocasta, Ultron’s bride from the comics, with T’Nia Miller said to be playing her.
Spader’s Ultron, revealed in human form at D23, hints in the trailer that his plans for humanity have not changed.
Terry Matalas, who co-created 12 Monkeys and ran Star Trek: Picard Season 3, created the series.
WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer is among the executive producers, and the cast also includes Todd Stashwick, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and James D’Arcy.

The Last New Marvel Show On The Books
Here is what makes this launch different from every Marvel Disney+ premiere before it.
Once VisionQuest finishes its run, the only live-action Marvel series left on the Disney+ schedule is Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 in 2027, and that is the show’s final season. After that, nothing is dated.
Marvel is cutting back its live-action Disney+ output, and the ratings are why.
Wonder Man was canceled in July even though Disney had already announced a Season 2 renewal.
Marvel’s live-action Disney+ series have made Nielsen’s streaming charts only once this year: Wonder Man‘s opening week in January. Daredevil: Born Again went 0-for-17 across its two seasons.
That leaves VisionQuest to close out Marvel’s live-action streaming year on its own.

What Marvel Has Waiting At NYCC
Marvel keeps three to five live-action shows in development at any time, per The Hollywood Reporter, and the studio just greenlit a spy thriller going by the name Zodiac.
X scooper Doom’s Servant, who first leaked that project, says Marvel will announce the show at New York Comic Con and that he hears Zodiac is not the real title. None of that is confirmed, so treat it as rumor for now.
The con runs October 8-11, and VisionQuest premieres three days later, streaming October 14 on Disney+ with two episodes.
