Bloodshot is heading to the silver screen!
Deadline reports that the Valiant Comics character, Bloodshot, has been acquired by Sony Pictures for a film adaptation.
Neal Moritz (I Am Legend, Battle Los Angeles, Total Recall reboot, The Fast and the Furious 6) is on as producer along with Jason Kothari and Dinesh Shamdasani of Valiant Entertainment.
Deadline states that Jeff Wadlow wrote a script, and when they showed it to Sony, Sony bought it.
No director is named, and Matthew Vaughn is not said to be part of this, as his name was previously attached.
The new Valiant Comics line launches this May with X-O Manowar. Valiant has been teasing additional titles and characters on their Facebook; looks like we’ll eventually see a new Bloodshot comic as well. For more on X-O, check out our interview with writer Robert Venditti.
It’s been some time since I read Bloodshot, but he was insanely popular. He was a member of the mob who underwent an experimental procedure that saw nanites injected into his body. Betrayed by both his “family” as well as the Govt., Angelo Mortalli became a living breathing weapon bent on revenge and destruction!
Should be interesting to see how much the new Valiant keeps of the original stories.
