Universal Adapting BOOM! Studios Day Men Following 2 Guns Success

[page_title]

Following the success of the BOOM! Studios comic book movie adaptation of 2 Guns, which starred Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington, Universal Pictures has optioned Day Men.

2 Guns debuted #1 at the box office earlier this month, and now it looks as if Universal is going to attempt something similar with Day Men.

Day Men, from writers Matt Gagnon and Michael Alan Nelson, with art by Brian Stelfreeze, is an ongoing comic book series from BOOM! Studios that sees a secret network of vampire covens engaged in a timeless struggle for power.

Here is the series synopsis:

For thousands of years, the world has been controlled by the “50 Families” — a secret network of vampire covens engaged in a timeless struggle for power. But when the sun rises, the vampires are forced to employ the services of a human who acts as their daytime fixer and protector…Trained for centuries to be the mortal soldiers of their vampire employers, the Day Men go forth at sunrise, alone into the world, to do the bidding of their sleeping benefactors. Written by Matt Gagnon (FREELANCERS) & Michael Alan Nelson (DC’s SUPERGIRL, HEXED) and drawn by industry legend Brian Stelfreeze. DAY MEN is a sexy, action-packed epic that brings modern master Brian Stelfreeze back to drawing monthly comics for the first time since 2005!

Deadline reports that BOOM! Studios CEO Ross Ritchie and VP of Development Steven Christy will be on board as producers, with Day Men having the potential to be another horror franchise for Universal, similar to Blade or Resident Evil.
