Fans of the 1986 Transformers animated movie will remember Hot Rod as the Autobot that would become Rodimus Prime and replace Optmius Prime!
Yeah! We all hated that!
Hot Rod also happens to be making his cinematic debut in the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight movie–where we are crossing our dyodes the same thing doesn’t happen!
While it’s speculated Optimus Prime isn’t going to be killed off, EW.com offers a first look at Hot Rod and plot details for Transformers: The Last Knight.
It’s learned Hot Rod has been helping Anthony Hopkins’ character, the astronomer Sir Edmund Burton, who has been tracking Transformers back to the Arthurian Legend with ties to another scholar, Oxford professor of English literature Viviane Wembly, played by Laura Haddock.
Haddock’s character happens to harbor a genetic secret that could destroy (or save) the world: “[The humans] are empowered in a way that is very different than we’ve experienced before and honestly, it’s not easy figuring out how to empower the six foot human versus the 35- or 45-foot robot,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura offered.
Hot Rod happens to have been protecting Laura Haddock, disguised as her father’s 1963 Citroën DS.
“It’s a rickety old thing, but she can’t part with it because she adores it,” Haddock said of the vintage automobile. “This car has actually been put there to watch her and feedback information to Anthony Hopkins’s character about what she’s up to and her life. So yeah, she gets kind of taken [by surprise] in a really funny, dramatic way by this Hot Rod.”
