Amid all the news and speculation surrounding “Transformers 4” that all-new robots and an all-new cast will be featured, Transformers fans can rest easy as fan-favorite voice-actor, Peter Cullen, will be voicing Optimus Prime in the fourth installment directed by Michael Bay.

And that’s not all, as we learn “Transformers 4” will not be a reboot as well.

In an interview with the Huffinton Post, Michael Bay was asked if Peter Cullen will be returning, as the actor previously said he didn’t know, with Bay responding in the affirmative.

“Of course! Of course,” Bay said.

“Listen, when I heard his voice, it gave me chills,” Bay continued, in response to mention of how upset fans would be if Cullen didn’t return.

And regarding Optimus Prime, the Huffinton Post also mentions the “flames on Optimus” and how the fans’ reactions weren’t too kind, with Michael Bay acknowledging.

“Yeah, I know,” Bay stated.

We have also previously heard that “Transformers 4” will be a total reboot; however, Bay seems to shoot down that notion when asked.

“No. We’re basically taking from the history of where it was — or where we left it in Chicago. And we’re going to carry it on from there,” Bay said.

Previous to the announcement of “Transformers 4,” it was also said that Michael Bay would not be returning to helm another Transformers movie; so what brought Michael Bay back? Seems Bay couldn’t stand the thought of someone else coming onboard and – perhaps – messing it up. Bay’s answer also further clarifies if Transformers 4 is a reboot or not.

“Like, OK, I’m about to do a little movie, ‘Pain & Gain’ … and the studio says they want to restart the franchise. And someone could come in here and screw it up, you know? So I’m thinking that if I do this last one, we set it on a new footing, we change a lot of things — but we keep the history of the three in place. But we broaden it so it can be set up and be carried on — it would have a better chance for survival, I guess. You know?”

“Transformers 4” has a June 24, 2014 release date.
