Thor 2 (2013): Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan Eyed For Director’s Chair


thor movie posterWith Patty Jenkins exiting the director’s chair on Thor 2, Marvel Studios is wasting no time in finding a replacement.

Two names have recently been named to be in contention to helm the next movie starring the god of thunder.

Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan are said to be in the mix, according to THR.

In addition, Jenkins’ departure also means a rewrite will be in order for the script, as THR also states a new shortlist of writers is being made up.

Taylor is known for HBO’s Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos,  AMC’s Mad Men, and directing the premiere episode of NBC’s The Playboy Club.

Minahan, also known for Game of Thrones, has worked on True Blood, Deadwood and Grey’s Anatomy.

Regarding the new script, John Collee, Robert Rodat and Roger Avary are named.

Collee’s credits include Happy Feet and Master and Commander: Far Side of the World.

Rodat’s include TNT’s Falling Skies, Saving Private Ryan,with Avary for Pulp Fiction.

Jenkins named creative differences as the reason why she left.

Also seems Marvel Studios is eyeing TV directors for the Thor 2 spot.
