The Odyssey comes home Nov. 17.
Per Variety, Christopher Nolan’s epic will be available to rent and purchase digitally that day, with the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVD arriving alongside it.
Expect the usual PVOD platforms — Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango at Home, YouTube — at the usual new-release pricing.
That’s 123 days after the July 17 theatrical opening, the exact same window Universal gave Oppenheimer, which opened July 21, 2023, and hit digital Nov. 21.
Most studio releases go home in 30 to 45 days. Nolan’s don’t, and after a summer where the movie passed The Dark Knight as his biggest ever in North America, Universal isn’t about to argue with the strategy.
Worth a mention is that Universal hasn’t put out its formal home-entertainment announcement yet. With Oppenheimer, that came about a month before release, so the date is set per Variety while the disc details below remain preliminary.
Three Discs, A SteelBook, And One Curious Spec
Retail listings point to a two-disc Blu-ray set and a three-disc 4K edition, with a SteelBook surfacing at Barnes & Noble.
Bonus features haven’t been revealed.
Blu-ray.com’s preliminary specs list HDR10 and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track — no Atmos, which is standard practice for Nolan — and a 1.78:1 aspect ratio for the feature.
That last one is the detail worth watching. This is the first movie shot entirely on IMAX film cameras, and if 1.78:1 holds across the whole runtime, the home version fills a 16:9 screen edge to edge instead of shifting ratios the way Oppenheimer‘s discs did.
Nolan has pushed physical media for years, warning during the Oppenheimer rollout that streamers can pull a film whenever they want, and his home releases are mastered from the original prints.
Streaming Is A 2027 Story
Nov. 17 covers buying and renting only.
There is no Peacock date, and history says don’t hold your breath: Oppenheimer didn’t hit Peacock until Feb. 16, 2024, seven months after theaters and timed to Oscar nominations voting.
That means The Odyssey could be streaming around February 2027.
The theatrical run isn’t finished either.
Japan doesn’t open until Sept. 11, IMAX auditoriums in Los Angeles and New York are booked into October, and an awards-season 70mm push is all but certain.
The digital date is a milestone on the map, not the end of the voyage.
