It’s probably a safe bet to say that Robbie Amell will be back as Firestorm.
Amell was seemingly killed off in Season 2 of The Flash, probably because of his stint in the upcoming X-Files series, but now that filming on X-Files is over, it looks as if Amell will be back as Firestorm.
Victor Garber, who plays the other half of Firestorm, Dr. Stein, posted an image of himself with Amell on Instagram, including Robbie Amell and the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow account in on the post: “Reunited and it feels so good.”
Likewise, Robbie Amell posted the image on his own Instagram account with “Dinner with the ex” as well as an image of the Firestorm containment unit, adding: “Hello old friend.”

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow debuts January 21st. Presently replacing Robbie Amell as Firestorm is Franz Drameh as Jax Jackson.
What happens when heroes, villains and time travel collide? We’ll soon find out when DC’s Legends of Tomorrow makes its debut on The CW. So what can you expect from this Arrow and Flash spinoff series? Quite a lot, as Tiffany learns from Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller and the rest of the show’s cast in this exclusive #DCTV clip.
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
In an interview with Victor Garber, it’s learned the planned Arrow andFlash spinoff superhero team series, speculated to be titled “The Legends Of Tomorrow,” will premiere January 2016.
Garber, who plays one half of Firestorm as Dr. Stein, let the details fly in an interview with BroadwayWorld.com.
Yeah, I think it’s going to be a very fun ride. I really honestly can’t tell you much about it except it is completely new and it will involve a lot of interesting people. No. We haven’t filmed any of it yet – but, it is going straight to series. We start filming in August and it will be on in January. Yes, it will be on the CW.
In addition to Garber, the spinoff is set to star Brandon Routh as Atom, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Cooper as Heat Wave, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, with Caity Lotz and Frank Drameh in to-be-announced roles.
Garber offered the following about his fellow cast members.
Yes, it’s so many interesting people involved with it – Ciara and Arthur Darvill and Wentworth Millerand Dominic Purcell and Brandon Routh and Caity Loz. I am very much looking forward to working with all of them on it. They are all really great people.
The inklings of “The Legends Of Tomorrow” have already started with the last episode of The Flash. The newspaper clip from the future mentioned Hawkgirl, and this spoiler pic has landed online.
Update: It’s also reported a 3-minute teaser will be released May 14th at the CW’s Upfronts presentation.
We have our first look at the cast from the Arrow / Flash superhero team spinoff from what appears to be the final episode of The Flash Season 1.
An Instagram user posted the following image revealing Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold; Brandon Routh as the Atom; CaityLotz (as maybe a time-resurrected Canary?); Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl; Victor Garber as one-half of Firestorm, Victor Stein; Stephen Amell as Arrow and Grant Gustin as The Flash.
The Instagram user also claims Rip Hunter is present (played by Arthur Darvill), but he’s not seen in the image.
Now for some speculation:
Previous images from the episode revealed Ollie in a new League of Shadows Arrow costume, and now we see Ollie back in costume as well as CaityLotz is back. We know The Flash can time travel, and there is also the time traveller Rip Hunter. It’s probably not too hard to guess that something might happen regarding time travel to bring the team together. It’s possible CaityLotz may be plucked from a point in her past, but not necessarily messing with her death, as she may go back to the same point in time, “eventually.” This way would then not cause some sort of time paradox and wouldn’t undermine her Season 3 death, but it would enable the use of the fan-favorite character and actress (another possibility is she could be from a parallel universe).
It’s learned the CW is currently developing a superhero team spinoff series featuring fan-favorite characters from both Arrow and The Flash.
In addition, Deadline states the new spinoff will feature three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series.
Set to star in the superhero team spinoff are: Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer (Atom); Victor Garber (Dr. Stein); Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold).
It’s also said that CaityLotz will star in the series, though it’s unclear how she will fit in as her character died in Arrow. It’s suggested they could somehow bring back Canary or that Lotz could play a new superhero.
The report makes no mention of Robbie Amell, who is the other half to Stein’s Firestorm, but it is stated the project is in early development and additional cast members most likely will be added.
The Arrow/The Flash team spinoff is being put together by Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, with the series eyed to debut next season/mid-season.
Victor Garber will play Dr. Martin Stein in the CW’sThe Flash TV series.
Stein is one-half of the character Firestorm, with the other half, Ronnie Raymond, being played by Robbie Amell.
THR says the role is major and recurring with Victor Garber slated to appear in the 12th episode.
The description for Dr. Martin Stein reads: Dr. Stein is a brilliant but arrogant nuclear physicist who has sacrificed everything, including a marriage, for his work in transmutation. After he discovers the particle accelerator fused him with the younger, more impulsive Ronnie Raymond, he races to find a way to separate the two before it’s too late.
