Superman Lives Brainiac Concept Art & Designs

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22945:]]

Check out Superman Lives concept art and designs of Brainiac, who was to be the villain of the film, which was to be directed by Tim Burton and set to star Nicholas Cage as the Man of Steel.

In the Kevin Smith version of the script, Brainiac blocks out the sun to make Superman powerless and sends Doomsday to kill Big Blue, in which he succeeds. Brainiac also teams up with Lex Luthor in the film, but Superman is brought back to life by the Krytonian robot known as The Eradicator. The casting for the movie was said to have wanted: Ben Affleck as Clark Kent / Superman, Linda Fiorentino as Lois Lane, Jack Nicholson as Lex Luthor, Famke Janssen as Mercy, John Mahoney as Perry White, David Hyde Pierce as the Eradicator, Jason Lee as Brainiac and Jason Mewes as Jimmy Olsen.

The art comes from propstore.com who recently auctioned off a Superman Lives lot.

George Miller Said To Be Directing Man Of Steel 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21810:]]

It’s being stated that George Miller will be directing Man of Steel 2.

The info comes from Jon Schnepp, who recently released the The Death of ‘Superman Lives’: What Happened? documentary.

Schnepp appeared on the Popcorn Talk YouTube podcast where he dropped the news.

“Yeah, George Miller,” Schnepp responded matter-of-factly when questioned about who is directing the Man of Steel sequel. “He’s doing Man of Steel 2. I don’t feel weird about breaking it, so… Yeah. Obviously, Zack Snyder is doing Justice League [Part] 1 and 2. We already got James Wan doing Aquaman… But, yeah, I think George Miller is the perfect choice to do Man of Steel 2. He’s going to bring so much to it.”

As fans know, George Miller was attached to the defunct 2008 Justice League movie that was to feature Armie Hammer as Batman, DJ Cotrona as Superman, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Adam Brody as The Flash, Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman.

While Man of Steel 2 isn’t offically a part of the WB slate of announced DC movies, it was reported that standalone Batman and Superman movies would be forthcoming.

The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? is a Feature Length Documentary about the unmade movie “Superman Lives”. This film, out of all the various attempts to make a Superman movie between 1987 and 2006, would have stood the test of time and become a bonafide Cult Classic nowadays. I am not alone with my intense interest in knowing everything I can about this project, and so now I’m embarking on making a Documentary that will cover everything ever made for this film, from interviewing as many people as I can who were involved, to including actually recreating scenes from the script!!!

Nicolas Cage Eyes Doctor Strange

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:6243:]]Does Nicholas Cage have his Eye of Agamotta set on Doctor Strange?

Recently, Nicholas Cage came out and said he’s done with Ghost Rider, and now he mentions another Marvel Comics character.

It’s been said that there are Marvel Studios plans for a Doctor Strange Movie, and we’ve actually already heard a couple names associated with the role.

There was Viggo Mortensen, which was quickly shot down, and then there has been Patrick Dempsey who has stated he wants to be the next Sorceror Supreme.

Well, now we have Nicholas Cage eyeing the role.

Speaing with HeyUGuys about his latest animated movie, The Croods, Cage mentions Doctor Strange.

“I’m open to anything. I just want to try something else, try something new. Doctor Strange is interesting, but I don’t know. Right now I’m in a phase where I’m more interested in going back to my roots and doing independently-spirited dramatic films. That’s sort of what I am in th process with now. I don’t really see another comic book-based film any time soon.”

Check out the video below for more, but if rumors are anything to go by, Marvel Studios may already have cast its Doctor Strange as the cosmic doctor is rumored for Thor 2.

Superman Lives Script Now Online By Wesley Strick

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5342:]]With the Superman Lives movie documentary being launched, some new items have recently popped up online.

First, there is the new photograph of Nicholas Cage as Superman, and now we have a script from Superman Lives.

The movie was originally written by Kevin Smith, but when Tim Burton came onboard, Smith’s involvement went sour with Burton getting Wesley Strick.

The SupermanHomePage has been provided a copy of the script, which you can download here (pdf).

Superman Lives features Braniac as the villain, and you can see the “spider” concept art to the right.

I’ve read through the first 20 or so pages and it’s actually quite intriguing.

It starts off with Jor-El and Braniac, who was created by Jor-El and was taken offline as it needed too much power; however, unbeknownst to Jor-El, Braniac was fully awake and needing a source of power tapped into Krypton’s core, which is the cause of the planet’s destruction, and the reason for Braniac creating tentacles and spider-legs. We see a battle ensue between Jor-El, Lara and Braniac. Baby Kal-El is sent away in a spaceship to escape, and there is a second space ship for Jor-El and Lara, but Braniac escapes in it. Both Jor-El and Lara suffer violent deaths at the hands of Braniac. Braniac sets after the first spaceship, but the ensuing explosion of Krypton causes him to go off track into the dark recesses of outer space, as Kal-El makes his way to Earth.

Fast-forward 30 years and we see Braniac’s skull ship, where he’s collected aliens and such, and as he is passing near Earth notices they have nuclear power. He decides to touch down near one of their largest reactions – run by LexCorp.

We are then taken to a press conference with Lex Luthor where he says he has discovered that an alien vessel has landed in Smallville 30 years ago. Curiously, everyone knows about Superman – it seems – and they don’t put two and two together (as I read it). Clark Kent is there covering the news conference – who is suffering from a migraine – and Lois Lane is introduced as well.

From there we go to Smallville where Luthor finds a piece of Clark’s ship, and then he is told about problems at the nuclear reactor. He goes off to investigate where he discovers Braniac! Braniac kills some of the workers, but stops at Lex as he notices the Kryptonian item that Lex found, and realizes he has finally found where “K” is. After Jor-El “shut down” Braniac he created “K” (which I took to be another Kryptonian robot possibly powered by Element X or some other unlimited power source).

That’s about where I am at with my reading, but next Clark and Lois head to Antartica, I think, with the Fortress of Solitude coming into play.

So far it isn’t that bad and plays on the angle that Braniac is Jor-El’s “son” and wants to go on to create himself as the perfect superior being, which obviously leads him into direct conflict with the true son, Kal-El, Superman.

I’m also curious to see how much it differs from Kevin Smith’s own script, which I have yet to read as well.

Possible New Image Of Nicolas Cage As Superman Doesn’t Look Too Bad

Landing on Reddit, a possible new image of Nicholas Cage as Superman from the defunct “Superman Lives” 90s movie.

Just so happens there is also a new documentary planned about the movie as well, which sounds really cool.

Cage was attached to play the Man of Steel in a movie that was really out of this world. “Supeman Lives” would have been unlike any Superman movie we’ve seen, directed by Tim Burton and written by Kevin Smith. It also was to feaure Braniac as the villain and even Doomsday.

Nicholas Cage is a huge Superman fan and even owned Action Comics #1 at one time. He also named his son after Supes, Kal-El.

If the following image is indeed real, the suit resembles Burton’s Batman a bit more.

We’ve seen a previous image of Cage in a Superman suit that looked pretty awful.

This one, not as bad.

Superman Lives Movie Documentary Needs A Kickstart

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:5248:]]

Now this sounds really cool if they can make it happen.

Back in the 90s there was a new Superman movie written by Kevin Smith with Nicholas Cage set to play the Man of Steel directed by Tim Burton.

It was called Superman Lives, but right before it was to begin shooting everything fell apart.

Well,  Jon Schnepp wants to make a documentary on the movie, but that’s not all, as he wants to create scenes from Superman Lives as well.

Schnepp has a Kickstarter for his documentary, of which he’s no stranger to, as his previous campaign brought in a whopping $188,000 for his Grimm Fairy Tales animated pilot.

Schnepp has a host of experience working on film including Upright Citizens Brigade, Metalocalypse, The Venture BrosSpace Ghost Coast to Coast and more.

Check out his campaign video which reveals a bunch of concept art from Superman Lives, which Schnepp has acquired over the years. He plans on interviewing anybody that was associated with the movie including Cage and Burton. And the movie was set to have Braniac as the villain.

More Superman Lives Hideous Looking Toy Concept Art

Mid-December saw some Hasbro concept art surface from the defunct Tim Burton Superman Lives.

Now, a few more pieces have made their way on to the net – and they are just as hideous!

They reveal Superman’s first suit, I guess before he dons the Eradicator armor/costume. And we also see designs for Superman’s tomb as well as Braniac’s skull ship. Also present is the actual Eradicator, followed by Supes’ “recovery suit.” Yikes!

These come from TimBurton.jp (via CBM).
