Scott Adkins Cast In Doctor Strange

With Doctor Strange currently filming in Nepal, it’s being reported martial artist Scott Adkins has been cast in the movie; however, the role is currently unknown.

Adkins is a fan-favorite actor who recently auditioned for the role of the new Batman, which went to Ben Affleck. Adkins has also been featured in Universal Soldier, The Expendables and The Bourne Ultimatum.

According to The Wrap, Adkins will be featured in several major action scenes featuring hand-to-hand combat.

The news of Scott Adkins getting cast in Doctor Strange will certainly bring about speculation the actor is playing Iron Fist, especially following the recent rumors of Marvel Studios said to be putting a stop to the use of the character in the Marvel Netflix series. To add to that, with Iron Fist having a supernatural background, the character would fit in pretty well with Doctor Strange, which is more than likely spearheading the supernatural side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange has a November 4, 2016 release directed by Scott Derrickson.

Gotta love Thailand.

Maybe We’ll Get A Ninja Batman; Scott Adkins Confirms Audition

Martial Artist Scott Adkins has confirmed he auditioned to be the new Batman.

Adkins is an English actor and martial artist trained in Tae Kwon Do and kick-boxing and a big fan of Bruce Lee.

Update: Back in August it was rumored that Scott Adkins had auditioned for the new Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman, sequel to Man of Steel. Ben Affleck has been named to be the new Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Scott Adkins’ response to the questioning in the following interview with Behind The Mask about auditioning for Batman is interesting as it seems to imply the audition may have featured martial arts. There is also the fact that he was asked to audition in the first place which may hint at the possibility. It could be that Snyder and company wanted to get an idea of some of the moves they may be incorporating for their Batman, as Adkins says he never expected to get the job.

That’s an issue I had with the Nolan movies, and especially The Dark Knight Rises, and that was Batman didn’t seem much of a martial artist, but basically just did kicks and punches. Obviously the suit Christian Bale wore may have had something to do with that, which could be another clue as to the suit Ben Affleck will be getting if the new Batman will be incorporating more martial arts moves into his repertoire.

Adkins offers the following:

They asked me to audition. Yeah. So I did. That’s as far as it went. I know there was a big campaign on the internet, which was great for the free publicity, but I think that’s because obviously Batman is a martial artist to such that’s his super power. Isn’t it? People are disappointed that he has not been shown off as the martial artist he should be. I guess I look like Bruce Wayne.

I wasn’t crossing my fingers. I wasn’t holding my breath. It was a great opportunity to audition and let some of those people up in the higher positions know who I am and look at me, but I never expected it to happen. But the whole thing on the internet…I’m flattered. Ben Affleck, I think is going to do an amazing job. I’ve always been a huge fan of his. Maybe when I’ve won an Oscar I’ll get the kind of luck he’s got, but it’s not luck is it? He deserves it.

I was just happy to do it and enjoyed it to be honest, really enjoyed it – to play that character, even if it was for just a few seconds.

Scott Adkins can next be seen in the Legend Of Hercules which gets released on January 10th.

Christian Bale Offered $50 Million To Continue As Batman? Scott Adkins Approached

Let’s add a pair of new rumors to the Batman reboot mix with mention – again – that Christian Bale was offered a heap of money to reprise as the Caped Crusader for the Justice League movie, in addition to a new name for the role with Scott Adkins.

Scott Adkins, known for The Expendables 2, Zero Dark Thirty and The Bourne Ultimatum, is said to have been approached to play Batman.

The Scott Adkins UK fan site ScottAdkinsfans states the actor may not only have been approached by Warner Bros, but also may have auditioned for the role of the new Batman.

Regarding Christian Bale, a new gossip-style e-book, Beyond Batman: The Unauthorized True Story of Christian Bale and His Dark Knight Dilemma, has it the actor was offered $50 Million to reprise for the Justice League movie.

It could be possible that Bale was offered to return following The Dark Knight Rises. The book goes on to mention in its description how Bale is compared to Robert Downey Jr. and such, with typecasting and going on to have a career following Batman. Bale previously stated he is not returning, which seemed a definite answer, and Warner Bros. also announced a new Batman would be cast. Our own sources tell us they are going for a younger Batman to play a new character.

Here’s a description of the e-book in case you are interested from Amazon:

“Beyond Batman” is the unauthorized true story of Christian Bale and his real life Dark Knight dilemma.

As the bat signal still glimmers with fervor above Bale’s Hollywood marquee, this compelling, first-of-its-kind work recounts Christian Bale’s inescapable experience as the Batman of our generation.

With three of the most successful Batman films in Hollywood history under his belt, Christian Bale is now facing extraordinary pressure to become The Dark Knight once more in the forthcoming Justice League film.

This compelling read exposes how sources close to Christian Bale have reportedly begun expressing their suspicions that Bale now views the Batman films in the same light that Robert Downey, Jr. views the Iron Man films.

Although Downey has appeared as Tony Stark in four movies in less than a decade, he’s hardly typecast as Iron Man. Downey has balanced his action film escapades with other projects that have harnessed his talents and earned critical acclaim in the process.

If Bale follows a similar formula, his box office glory days may not be behind him – a reality that other men who have donned the black cape weren’t so fortunate to experience.

In the end, Christian Bale’s future success as a top Hollywood draw may need Batman every bit as much as the Batman franchise still needs Christian Bale.
