Programming Slate Includes Blue Ribbon Content and DC Entertainment’s Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles Season 2, #4Hero, and DC’s Hero Project along with RoboCop, Clive Barker’s Creepy Pasta, Happy Wheels, High School 51 from Robert Orci, and Collaborations With Some of the Most Renowned Social Video Stars In The World

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 4, 2015 – Machinima’s debut at the Digital Content Newfronts was nothing short of “heroic.” The first global many2many programming service focused on fandom and gamer culture, Machinima unveiled a programming slate designed to elevate and celebrate a global community of gamer, comic and hero fans through the most innovative content on the Internet. Partnerships with Blue Ribbon Content and DC Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-MayerClive Barker, Roberto Orci and Bunim/Murray Productions, along with some of Machinima’s leading creator talent, showcase Machinima’s commitment to developing content across all genres, formats and platforms.

“Fandom and gaming engenders so much passion and engagement; it’s a cultural shift uniquely connecting with the most valuable millennials,” said Chad Gutstein, Machinima’s CEO.  “It’s this deep connection to our audience that has made Machinima the ninth largest video entertainment platform in the United States, and the second most watched programmer on YouTube.  With our new slate, we are reminding our fans and our clients of one very important fact: Machinima is back!”

Machinima’s programming slate includes:

Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles Season 2

From visionary producer and animator Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series), Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles turns the DC Universe upside-down. In this dark, alternate world, telling the good guys from the bad guys is never easy: Superman is not the son of Jor-El, he’s the son of General Zod; Wonder Woman is not from peaceful Themyscira, but rather the warring nation of Ares; and Batman is more vampire-bat than man…and he’s not Bruce Wayne. It is unclear if our greatest heroes are here to protect us…or to rule us. With Season 1 set to launch in June, Machinima, Blue Ribbon Content and DC Entertainment have already begun development on Season 2, a 10-episode follow-up to the initial limited series.

DC’s Hero Project

Machinima, Blue Ribbon Content, and DC Entertainment are setting out to discover the next great creator for the world of DC Comics.  Eight contestants compete in elimination challenges to develop a live-action short video based on their own interpretations of characters from DC Comics’ Starman comic book series. Well-known guest judges and celebrity special guests will join bestselling writer and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and a panel of esteemed judges to oversee the entire competition.

A modern adaptation of DC Comics’ cult-favorite classic “Dial H For Hero”, #4Hero is a live-action, VFX-heavy action-comedy about a young woman named Nellie Tribble who is quietly desperate to make her mark on the world, but wholly unprepared to do so. Nellie stumbles upon a life-altering smartphone app that allows her to instantly become a Super Hero for a short amount of time. The problem is her super powers are dictated by whatever is trending on social media at that moment, and they are always only semi-useful.

Clive Barker’s Creepy Pasta

For the first time, horror legend Clive Barker is stepping away from the creatures of his own imagination and entering into the world of Internet horror fan fiction, affectionately known as Creepy Pasta.  Starting with viral urban legends (e.g. Jeff the Killer, Slender Man and Ben Drowned), Clive Barker’s Creepy Pasta is an original series of live-action, blood-curdling short films.  These new tales will be curated and adapted by Barker from submissions obtained through the creepypasta community, and produced by Machinima to scare you to your core.

“Dead or alive, you’re coming with me.” OCP’s Security Concepts Division’s RoboCop program is back in an all-new, short-form limited web series, based on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s 1987 classic action film. RoboCop returns to Delta City where viewers ride along with the now standard-issue RoboCop officers as they respond to calls from dispatch. Tapping into current themes of the surveillance state, the series is shot from the first person point of view of the RoboCop officers’ heads up display, along with security cameras, dash-cams, and drones.

Happy Wheels

“Choose your inadequately prepared racer, and ignore severe consequences in your desperate search for victory!”

                                                                        – Happy Wheels

Machinima will bring audiences an all-new original animated series based on Jim Bonacci’s hit online game Happy Wheels and produced by BMP Digital, the digital division of Bunim/Murray Productions (‘The Real World’, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’). This must-see 10-episode short form series, which will feature fan-favorites such as Wheelchair Guy, Irresponsible Dad and Lawnmower Man, will expand upon the game that has more than 8 million players a month and showcase its notorious dark humor and penchant for blood and gore. Additionally, with over 3.1 billion video views amassed, BMP Digital is looking to leverage the voiceover talents of YouTube influencers such as Toby Turner (15.2M YouTube Subscribers, Cartoon Network’s The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange) and others who have made this game so iconic.

Jerome ASF’s The Baka Chronicles

Adding to the gaming fervor, Machinima’s iconic Minecrafter Jerome ASF (3.6M YouTube Subscribers), will be teaming with N00b Adventure creator Jim Schwerfeger for an all-new series – The Baka Chronicles. Featuring Jerome ASF’s most beloved character, Baka, the series follows two unlikely server admins who problem-solve the hilarious antics of griefers, trolls, and kids who wreak havoc across their favorite multiplayer Minecraft server. Little do our heroes realize this job is a massive headache.

High School 51

Created and produced by Roberto Orci (TransformersAmazing Spider-Man 2Star Trek, Sleepy Hollow, Lost, Fringe) and Legion of Creatives, and starring Orlando Jones (Sleepy HollowTainted LoveDrumlineMADtv),High School 51 is as out of this world as the name implies.

Hidden away in the heart of Area 51, Dream Lake High School is filled with mind-blowing technology, top-secret government programs and a student body that is cool, quirky, attractive, and…well, alien.  No one from the outside has ever been allowed into the school and no human has ever attended…until now.

For 16-year old Alex Valencia, the first and only human ever to attend Dream Lake, high school is going to be tough. Fitting in will be one thing but his biggest challenge just might be saving the human race!

Returning Series

Additionally, Machinima is announcing the return of some of its most popular shows including AFKChasing The CupRealmBattlefield FriendsSanity Not IncludedDeck Wars, and ETC.

Roberto Orci Still Involved With Star Trek 3: Is JJ Abrams Directing?

Three days ago saw word hit that Roberto Orci will not be directing Star Trek 3.

Now Orci comments on the departure at where it’s learned that Orci will still be involved with the movie, which makes sense seeing how Orci wrote the story.

I will be very involved:)

not at all. still excited to makeTrek 3! And on time. We’ll find the right director!

no time travel was ever considered, fyi

A Star Trek fan then mentions Kirk’s advice to Picard about not letting them do anything to take you out of the chair. Orci’s response is interesting because he states that was part of the reasoning for stepping down, which sounds like a hint a big name will be directing Star Trek 3.

Have not forgotten. On the contrary, factored into decision. Their are bigger chairs to consider

A fan then brings up mention of J.J. Abrams returning to direct Star Trek 3 (as Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now finished filming and Abrams is not doing the sequels); however, Orci seems to say that Abrams will be too busy with the post-production on Star Wars.

I am so excited to see what JJ does FOR THE NEXT YEAR with Star Wars in post production.

Orci also stated on his Twitter he will be a producer on Star Trek 3.

The original report that said Orci was out stated former Ant-Man movie director, Edgar Wright, was a contender to direct Star Trek 3.

It’s also been said Paramount wants Star Trek 3 to be released in 2016, which is the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

Edgar Wright Rumored For Star Trek 3; Robert Orci Out

It’s being reported that Roberto Orci will not be directing Star Trek 3.

Deadline reports there is “fire behind the smoke” as rumors have begun “swirling” stating Orci is off the movie.

It’s said former Ant-Man director Edgar Wright is now a contender to direct Star Trek 3, in addition to unnamed others.

Orci was named the successor of J.J. Abrams on Star Trek, and also recently split from his writing partner, Alex Kurtzman, so the duo could do separate projects.

Orci was writing Star Trek 3, as well.

Back in June, Robert Orci mentioned plot details including that Star Trek 3 would be set in space and would better resemble the original series characters – more so than we’ve seen with the two previous JJ Abrams movies.

Paramount has intended Star Trek 3 be released in 2016, the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Monster Villain Concept Art Posters

Three pieces of artwork have been revealed for Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow revealing a look at the villains for the upcoming season.

EW revealed the looks of a “beefed-up” Moloch, the Pied Piper, and a “mysterious being” known as the Kindred.

Fox has also bumped up Season 2 to 18 episodes, with the premiere airing Monday September 22nd on Fox.

Executive producer Roberto Orci also offered the following:

Well, Moloch, as evil as he was in season one, he’s been a little bit frustrated with his access to the real world. I think part of the reason you’re seeing some nice new sketches for him is he wants to look his best in case he manages to set foot completely into our world. That is his goal. And that is part of what’s going to be going on through the season. Can he really get an apartment in Sleepy Hollow and really raise havoc?

Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. The Kindred is a character generated from the knowledge of how the Headless Horseman operates. You could say he is a mirror version of the Headless Horseman—he has a lot of the [same] skills, but is manipulated into fighting for the side of Abbie and Crane. It’s great when you have a big bad who can help you, but also you can’t control some things when you unleash them.

Now Amazing Spider-Man 3 Loses Roberto Orci

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:15793:]]Last month saw news that Amazing Spider-Man 3 is getting delayed, and now it’s reported that Roberto Orci is off the third film in the franchise.

Orci helped write Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Alex Kurtzman, but the long-time writing duo recently split to go their own separate ways.

Now Orci says he has no idea where the Spider-Man franchise is headed, and he tells IGN that he is “not officially involved in it.”

“I don’t know what their plans are for that franchise. I don’t ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I’ve read probably as much as anyone else. There’s a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom — there’s an idea of Spider-Man’s going to be one of these characters that’s part of our business. He’s such a popular character. Spider-Man’s not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined.”

As noted, plans for a Venom movie and Sinister Six are in the works, with Kurtzman supposed to be directing Venom.

It’s possible we might see either one of those before Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Maybe we’ll find out in a couple weeks at Comic-Con.

Good News: Star Trek 3 Is Set In Space

Robert Orci will be directing Star Trek 3, and the good news is that the film will be set in space.

Star Trek Into Darkness was generally not that well received (at least among Trekkers), with the movie featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as a terrorist on Earth.

Now Orci says Star Trek is going back to its roots, and the current characters will more resemble the originals.

Via Humans From Earth podcast:

In [Star Trek Into Darkness] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 [Star Trek] – was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie.  So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.”

Paramount recently let it be known they intend on releasing Star Trek 3 in 2016.

Roberto Orci Wants To Direct Star Trek 3; Parts Ways With Alex Kurtzman

It’s learned that Bob Orci is eyeing the director’s chair for Star Trek 3, and that he is writing the script with Patrick McKay and John D. Payne; J.J. Abrams and David Ellison are on board as producers.

Variety also states that while Abrams agrees with the choice of Orci directing Star Trek 3, Paramount seems to be a bit hesitant as they are taking a “cautious” approach. Star Trek Into Darkness had about a $468 million worldwide gross in 2012, which was actually less than the 2009 Star Trek film domestically by about $30 million.

It’s also stated that long time collaborators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are parting ways – at least regarding movies – as the two are pursuing separate projects. Reportedly, Orci and Kurtzman will still work together on television related projects.

Alex Kurtzman will be directing the Venom movie for Sony and is said to be working on a solo deal with Universal Studios to oversee new adaptations of The Mummy and Van Helsing.

The writing duo have worked on many projects together including Amazing Spider-Man 2, Star Trek, Transformers, Sleepy Hallow and Hawaii 5-0.

Star Trek 2’s Roberto Orci Would Do A New Animated Show Set In Movie Universe

picThere has been talk for some time of either a new live-action Star Trek TV show or a new animated series.

However, both seem to be on hold because of the J.J. Abrams movies.

While fans are getting comic books and video games set in this newly created Universe, what about something on television?

Star Trek 2 (not going to be named that), writer and producer Robert Orci recently discussed his thoughts on just that.

Too bad, it seems as it was just that — thoughts.

But the good(?) news is that Orci does state he would like to do a new Star Trek animated and fit it within the new movie chronology. Is there some kind of handshake — or possibly written — agreement between Paramount and CBS for CBS to not do a live-action Star Trek TV series while there is a feature film in development or until after JJ Abrams produces three movies?

Roberto Orci: I don’t know how specific that is. I do know there is an conversation where all parties agree to do what is best for Trek. And sometimes that means leaving space for the movie and it may turn into “maybe we can do both.” I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule where if there is a movie you can’t do it. It means let’s be aware of whether or not we are cannibalizing Trek. Let’s be aware of not saturating the audience and having them not be tired of it but hungry for it. But do you agree with me that an animated series is…

Roberto Orci: Yes. It is less cannibalizing. I would like to see an animated series the most. When I think about it, it is the most different than what we are doing and still in the most in line with it. So I would like to see an animated series. An animated series done like the new comic books and game you guys are currently overseeing — set in the movie universe with the same characters, having adventures in between the films?

Roberto Orci: Yes, exactly.

The original Star Trek animated aired way back in the 1970s, and you can read our featured article on the show from our very own M.E. Byron Brewer.

The as-of-yet unnamed Star Trek sequel has a May 17th, 2013 release date in 3D, is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov, John Cho as Hikaru Sulu and Benedict Cumberbatch as an unnamed villain.

Star Trek 2 (2013): Production Starting and Rumors

picLooks like Star Trek “2” is set to go back to where no man has gone before as they begin shooting on January 15th, 2012.

The latest script has been given to the studios by writers Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof, who continue to work on drafts.
