Ron Lim Doing Art For Marvel Heroes: Richard Rider Nova Not Ruled Out

The upcoming free-to-play Marvel MMO video game, Marvel Heroes, features a story that sees Doctor Doom getting his hands on the cosmic cube.

Brian Michael Bendis wrote the storyline for Marvel Heroes and now we find out that Ron Lim did some of the art.

“We are also partnering with Marvel artists, like Ron Lim (“Infinity Gauntlet,” “Silver Surfer”), to bring our motion comics to life,” Gazillion studio director Jeff Lind told

While not much is known about Marvel Heroes, the “motion comics” aspect that Lind might be referring to may be cut scenes that players see in-between play time.

We already know that cosmic characters like Rocket Racoon and pseudo-cosmic characters like the new Kid Nova are going to be playable characters, perhaps Ron Lim will be doing art on the more cosmic aspects of Marvel Heroes.

Speaking of cosmic, Richard Rider Nova is not ruled out as appearing some time down the line.

The Marvel Heroes MMO is currently in closed Beta with a release date expected to be announced soon.

Over 78% Of Nova Fans Are Not In Favor Of Jeph Loeb’s Kid Nova

With the announcement by Marvel that Jeph Loeb and Brian Michael Bendis would be replacing Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning on the uber-fan-favorite titles Nova and Guardians of the Galaxy — comes with it a storm of cosmic proportions!

It’s no secret that if you are a regular reader of Cosmic Book News that we are not in favor of Loeb and Bendis‘ seemingly earth-centric pseudo-cosmic storylines that feature a watered-down “Spider-Man” Kid Nova as well as a team of Guardians of the Galaxy featuring Iron Man that are more guardians of the earth.

You can read more about that here.

So it should come to no surprise that fans of both Nova and the Guardians of the Galaxy aren’t much in favor of the new Marvel Cosmic reboot as well.

A previous internet poll showed Marvel A-Lister Brian Michael Bendis and Marvel A-Lister Steve McNiven trailing the likes of a couple Vertigo books as well as some Image Comics announcements coming out of the NYCC.

Now, we have some more results to share with you from another poll — independent of Cosmic Book News just as the above.

The #1 Nova site on the internet,, conducted a poll about Nova fans’ thoughts on Point One.

The issue saw Sam Alexander get into a battle with long-time Richard Rider foe, Diamondhead. There was some quirky art as well as quirky behavior (Diamondhead really asked for a ride from Sam??), that seems to have left Nova fans on the fence.

As you can see from the below screen shot, over 44% flat out didn’t like it and another 34% are interested to see what Loeb does with this new Kid Nova, but are cautious as a result of reading Point One.

As we recently found out with the new Captain Marvel, initial sales were good, but have declined, which is what most likely will happen with Loeb’s Nova as well as BendisGuardians of the Galaxy — if sales on a replaced Captain Marvel and pseudo-cosmic Avengers Assemble are anything to go by. We also might want to throw in Marvel gave out issues of Point One for free because the demand wasn’t high enough (at least for the first Point One).

Marvel, Axel Alonso and Comic Book Resources Include Gay Joke As Part Of Interview

Poor taste?

Or did they just miss the reference?

The #1 comic book news website on the internet, Comic Book Resources (CBR), hosts a weekly interview with Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso.

This week’s featured interview saw reference to the Marvel comics character known as Richard Rider.

Richard Rider’s super powered alter ego is known as Nova, who has recently been replaced by a younger version known as Sam Alexander.

CBR also hosts the internet’s most popular comic book forum to which they open it up for fans to ask questions to Axel.

One fan in particular commented about the new Nova book and that it’s called “Nova” and not “Dick Rider,” with CBR keeping the “joke” as is (see below).

Now what must be noted is that these questions are handpicked by both Comic Book Resources and Marvel, so this isn’t something like a direct quote from a one-on-one interview.

It’s all planned.

Very classy, guys.

Check it out for yourself:

Nova Richard Rider Gets A Mention In Point One

This weeks sees the reboot of Marvel Cosmic with stories by Jeph Loeb and Brian Michael Bendis in Point One.

Loeb and Ed McGuinness are on Nova, with Bendis and Steve McNiven on the Guardians of the Galaxy’s Star-Lord with an origin story.

Fans of Richard Rider might want to add this to their collection as classic Nova foe Diamondhead dukes it out with Kid Nova and makes mention of the original.

Here’s a peek:

Cyclops Is The Phoenix In Avengers Vs. X-Men #12 – Defeating Kid Nova?

The last issue of Avengers Vs. X-Men comes out on October 3rd, with #12, and we see Nova is on the cover.

I take it he woke up out of his coma?

Oh, still not yet?

Anyway, a cover for the last AvX issue was sent to retailers which reveals Cyclops to be the Phoenix.

We also see some of the Avengers seemingly KO’d with the new Kid Nova almost down and out as well.

So, is the final battle going to see the new Kid Nova prevail and then off to his new Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness monthly?

Or did Marvel end up listening to the Nova fans, and Cyclops is going to blast Kid Nova from wherever whence he came?

And bring back Richard Rider?

You might want to tune into this week’s Avengers Vs. X-Men #11 as most likely that is where the Kid Nova will awake.

Richard Rider Nova and Wendell Vaughn Quasar Cosplay Pic Is Stellar

Previously we saw a batch of Marvel Cosmic cosplay photos from the recent Dragon Con, of which I asked, “Where’s Quasar?!”

Well, we got ‘im!

Check out a cosplay photo of Nova Prime Richard Rider along with Wendell Vaughn Quasar from the Baltimore Con!

This brings back some good memories when Quasar and Nova were teaming up in Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s stellar Marvel Cosmic Nova run. Quasar also appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy fighting his old nemesis Maelstrom as well as Oblivion, and went on to investigate The Fault during Realm of Kings which led to the hit series, The Thanos Imperative! This also saw the emergence of the Evil Quasar, aka Darth Quasar, and the new costume.

Great job with the costumes guys!

Thanks to superstar artist Brad Walker for sharing!
