Hulk Confirmed For Avengers: Infinity Wars; Loki For Thor 3

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22740:]]

It’s recently been learned that Mark Ruffalo and the Hulk will be a part of Thor: Ragnarok, and now Ruffalo has confirmed the Hulk for the Avengers: Infinity War movies as well as Loki for Thor 3.

Regarding Loki, while it seems the inclusion of the Asgardian Trickster is a no-brainer, Tom Hiddleston recently questioned if he would be returning as he stated he hasn’t heard anything from Marvel in years; hasn’t heard about Thor 3, and also wondered if the fans wanted him back.

Now it appears we can all breathe a sigh of relief as Mark Ruffalo fills in USA Today that he has spoken with Thor 3 director Taika Waititi, and while Ruffalo doesn’t know story specifics, he does state Hulk, Thor and Loki will be in the movie.

I don’t know what the story is yet, but it’ll be (Loki) and Thor, and then I’ll be in there here and there. But I don’t know any of the particulars quite yet. I’ve talked to Taika a little bit and I like where it’s headed. … Chris (Hemsworth) and I have a really good time together, we goof off and play around when Tom Hiddleston is around. So it’ll be a lot of funny back-and-forth, especially with Taika, he does that really well. It’ll have that kind of antagonistic Odd Couple-thing going on.

As Hiddleston previously stated, it’s possible Marvel simply hasn’t informed him yet of the Thor 3 plans. Ray Stevenson and Zachary Levi, two members of the Warriors Three, haven’t heard from Marvel as well, but are expecting the call: “I’ve heard that it’s on the cards,” Stevenson told IGN. “As far as Volstagg is concerned, should he be called with his other Warriors Three to protect young Thor again, within a heart’s beat he will be there. So, I am waiting to hear. I’m very excited about the whole thing actually.” Likewise, Levi told CBR: “No, not at all. As far as I know, they are still writing the script. Once that’s all buttoned down, I’m sure they will be making the phone call to whatever actors are involved.”

The USA Today article also makes mention of the Hulk appearing in Avengers: Infinity War:

…he will resurface in the two-part Avengers: Infinity War sequels…

And Ruffalo comments on the possibility of a standalone Hulk movie:

“Actually, it feels even further away. It’s not Marvel’s property, it’s Universal’s property. I don’t know. It seems really problematic.”

“Thor: Ragnarok” has a November 3, 2017 release.

Marvel Studios Major Cosmic Thor 2 Retcon Spoiler!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:12035:]]

Spoilers follow for Thor 2! You have been warned!

I’ve been trying to stay away from the Thor 2 spoilers as knowing everything ahead of time does in a way almost ruin watching a movie, but moments ago the mid-credit scene made it’s way online which features Benicio del Toro as The Collector with Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Ray Stevenson as Volstagg.

Sif and Volstagg delivered to The Collector a powerful object on par with The Tesseract (Cosmic Cube). It’s learned that The Tesseract now resides on Asgard, and for some reason, Odin or Thor doesn’t want to keep TWO INFINITY STONES in the treasure chamber. So obviously that means The Tesseract is an Infinity Stone (called Infinity Gem in the comics). The Infinity Gems in the comics are the Soul gem, Time gem, Space gem, Mind gem, Reality gem, and Power gem. Now that I think of it, has The Tesseract in the Marvel movie universe ever been called a Cosmic Cube? Or is that just what everyone insinuated? It’s not really that big of a deal, I guess.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:12036:]]

The Collector goes on to state “one down five to go,” which is obviously a reference to the Infinity Gauntlet (when the gems come together they give the wielder infinite power). I’m also curious why the Asgardians would give The Collector such a powerful object in the first place. Interesting. We can also gather from this that eventually The Collector (or Thanos?) will have to go after Asgard to get The Tesseract to complete the Gauntlet (or to complete The Collector’s “collection”).

Regarding the mid-credit footage, which Thor 2 director Alan Taylor didn’t seem too thrilled about: I thought Benicio del Toro nailed the role, but I’ll admit the costumes and make-ups could have looked better. Part of the intent with The Collector in the scene could be that he was mocking the “royal” Asgardians

The scene also could further tie into James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie as possibly Star-Lord steals the artifact from The Collector. A piece of Guardians of the Galaxy concept art revealed what looked to be some sort of object being talked over, which interestingly enough has been long speculated to be The Tesseract. It could be the artifact in question or a third Infinity Stone altogether.

One more interesting tidbit is that recently Jaimie Alexander said we’ll see more from Sif. Looks like in Guardians of the Galaxy, I would say.

Ray Stevenson Offers Up Possible Thor 2 Spoilers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:7968:]]

Ray Stevenson returns as Volstagg, a member of the Warriors Three, in Thor 2.

Stevenson recently spoke to the Wall St. Journal about the movie and offers up some pretty big details.

Possible spoilers follow.

The actor says that Thor 2 will be different than the first movie in that Asgard won’t be this peaceful kingdom that seems to sitting at the top of the Nine Realms.

Instead, as we’ve seen in the Thor 2 trailer, Asgard is under siege (see below), but offers up something surprising in that Odin’s kingdom could get completely destroyed. We also learn a little more about the rest of the Nine Realms as well as the plot.

In the first “Thor” Asgard had this tremendous peace among the 9 realms. They were riding at the heights. Everything is working and looking as it should be. In this one, the realms are being whipped up into various rebellions. There is a darker malignant force out there and we are in the process of engaging in long protracted skirmishes and battles. The luster and shine of the city has been taken off and it all leads to a huge assault, an attack at the heart of Asgard. It could be completely wiped out, the stakes are a lot higher.

Stevenson also offers up a hint as to the role and development of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, in part continuing from where Thor left off when Loki intervened in the first movie.

Thor himself is now. Now is the time to rise up and assume of the mantle of king.
