Aaron Johnson Hints How They Will Get Around Magneto In The Avengers 2 For Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:9948:]]

Both Fox Studios and Marvel are set to use the mutant Assembler Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Avengers 2, “Age of Ultron.”

As comic books fans know, both Quicksilver, and his sister who will be featured in The Avengers 2, Scarlet Witch, happen to have a well-known mutant father by the name of Magneto.

Well, Fox owns the rights to the Magneto character on film, with both companies sharing Quicksilver.

Obviously, Marvel Studios can’t mention Magneto in The Avengers 2, so how will they get around it?

In an interview with Total Film, Aaron Johnson gives a hint as he states both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been abandoned.

“There’s years – over 50 years – of backstory on him all there to use, and I like doing that,” Johnson said. “Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] have been abandoned by their parents and their father, and they grew up in Eastern Europe defending and looking out for themselves and each other.”

So it seems it’s quite simple how Whedon will get around not mentioning Magneto, and similar to the comics, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch just may know know their father’s identity.

Actually in the comics, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch didn’t find out about Magneto until after about almost 20 years worth of stories.

Johnson also goes on to offer a few details about Quicksilver in The Avengers 2:

“His sister really is his guidance – emotionally she’s the one who looks after him, and vice versa. He’s very overprotective physically – he doesn’t want anyone touching her,” Johnson continues, “He has real anger frustration – I like that. I always thought it’d be quite funny if you saw him eating loads and people asked him why and he’d explain it’s because he’s burning so much energy all the time. Or ideas that you’d see him come back round – but he’s already nipped out and got his lunch.”

Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver Huge Part Of The Avengers 2 Says Joss Whedon

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:9039:]]If there was any question as to what role the mutant siblings Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be playing in The Avengers 2, Joss Whedon has laid to rest any thoughts of a cameo or even the film rights for the characters.

Speaking with CraveOnline, Joss Whedon is asked about the use of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, with mention of the rights, but Whedon says the duo will play a large part.

“It’s a huge part of the movie. I’m really excited about it,” Whedon said.

Whedon continued with mention that he isn’t keeping track of what Fox Studios and Bryan Singer is doing with the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver for X-Men: Days of Future Past, as the characters can technically be shared as they are both considered “Avengers” and “X-Men” characters.

“I don’t know what they are doing and I am determinably not knowing,” he said. “They will do their thing; I have to do mine.”

The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014 and Ant-Man on November 6, 2015..

Aaron Johnson For Quicksilver In The Avengers 2?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8517:]]

While Bryan Singer has cast American Horror Story actor Evan Peters as their version of Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past, it seems as if Marvel Studios and Joss Whedon are eyeing Kick-Ass Aaron Johnson.

Deadline reports that Marvel Studios wants Aaron Johnson for the mutant speedster role, but there might be scheduling conflicts.

Currently, Johnson is filming Godzilla for Legendary and Gareth Edwards (pictured: right).

Regarding the use of Quicksilver by both studios, the character is considered part of both the Avengers and X-Men families, though was never a member of the latter group.

Joss Whedon Wants Batman; Talks The Avengers 2 Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8135:]]

A recent screening of Much Ado About Nothing was held at the Film Society of Lincoln Center where Joss Whedon discussed the movie as as well as The Avengers 2, Firefly and also Batman.

Regarding Batman, Whedon said he would if he could get his hands on “absolutely anybody” that it would be Batman, and then went on to state “he’s a Marvel character in the DC Universe.”

Whedon also talks about Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who are confirmed by the director to appear in The Avengers 2.

Recently, it came out that Bryan Singer will be using the mutie speedster in his Fox Studios movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Whedon doesn’t directly answer questions about that, but offers “they’re going to be awesome” in The Avengers 2.

For fans that have been waiting for anything Firefly, Whedon says pretty much what we have been hearing from the director lately in that nothing is really planned, but one day he would like to visit the fan-favorite show again.

“If all the planets align that would be great, but I’m not going to do what I did the first time and move heaven and earth to make it happen,” Whedon offered.

Joss Whedon previously pitched a Batman movie, which WB turned down the same day they canceled Firefly, that seems to have led to a bit of bad blood between the two.

Dear Bryan Singer: Quicksilver Is An Avenger Not An X-Men; Sincerely, Joss Whedon (Video)

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:8010:]]

I think it’s safe to say that the director of Superman Returns pulled off the ultimate d*ick move on Twitter the other day by announcing that Quicksilver would be appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Quicksilver, you know, who isn’t even a member of the X-Men – never was – and wasn’t even a part of the “Days of Future Past” comic book storyline.

Actually, I think just about every character in X-Men: Days of Future Past that Bryan Singer has cast isn’t a part of the comic story.

Hey, changing the story works for The Wolverine. Or has it?

Anyway, to catch you up, recently The Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon let it be made known that he will be featuring two of his favorite characters in the new movie with Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, the son and daughter of the Fox Studios-owned Master of Magneticism, Magneto.

And a week or so thereafter is when Singer announced Quicksilver in his own movie.

Quicksilver is a mutant, and why he can be used by Fox, and at the same time an Avenger, which is why Whedon can use him as well.

Of course, there are legal stipulations such as that Singer can’t refer to Quicksilver as an Avenger (and perhaps why Singer changed his original tweet removing reference to the Assemblers) and Whedon can’t mention any mutant aspects of the character.

While Singer recently tweeted that Quicksilver will have a role in his movie, now Joss Whedon talks about Pietro Maximoff and Wanda on Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel noting that the speedster is an Avenger.

Here’s the video:

…the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who were great mainstays of The Avengers when I was reading the comics as a kid.

Saoirse Ronan Rumored For Scarlet Witch In The Avengers 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:7654:]]It’s been confirmed that The Avengers 2 will see two new mutants in the form of the children of Magneto with the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

While Kevin Feige did say the script could change, news has hit the net that Saoirse Ronan is rumored for the Scarlet Witch.

Saoirse Ronan is a 19-year-old Irish actress who is currently starring in Stephenie Meyer’s The Host and is also known for Lovely Bones.

It’s also said that Quicksilver is described as “euro” and “edgy” by Super Hero Hype.

Obviously it seems as if Marvel Studios is attempting to add some much needed(?) younger talent to The Avengers, targeting the Twilight and Hunger Games crowd.

Regarding the use of Magneto, as Fox Studios owns the rights to the name, that will most likely not be mentioned in the movie.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch Confirmed For The Avengers 2!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:7382:]]If you recall, in a recent interview, Joss Whedon mentioned that he would be using two of his favorite characters in The Avengers 2 — a brother-sister act.

It was immediately speculated by just about everybody to be Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch; yep, the son and daughter of the Master of Magneticism, Magneto.

Apparently, either Fox Studios or Marvel Studios can use the characters because they are both considered part of the X-Men universe or Avengers universe.

But as CBN’s Chris “DOC” Bushley pointed out to me — Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have never been official members of the X-Men (true?).

Now we have confirmation that the pair will, indeed, be showing up in The Avengers 2.

EW revealed the cover to their latest issue, which will have a feature on the Marvel Studios movies, and they confirm that both Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch will be a part of The Avengers 2.

Some online rumors turn out to be true, however. A source confirms to EW that the twin characters Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be joining The Avengers 2, which Whedon hinted at recently when he said he was writing a brother-sister duo into the movie. Feige maintains a poker face on that scoop, saying only: “I’m not confirming or denying. The draft could change six months from now.”

Both Feige and Whedon have been stating recently that we’ll see new characters as part of the Avengers, looks like we have two so far.
